February 1, 2007:
Texas Republican contributors are being solicited to spend $30,000 for dinner with former New York City Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani at the Houstonian Hotel in Houston Feb. 1 to finance his presidential exploratory committee. The private dinner will follow a 6:30 to 8 p.m. cocktail reception, costing $2,100 a person and $4,200 for couples.
The best-known host of Giulianis Houston event is billionaire oilman T. Boone Pickens Jr., chairman of the private equity firm BP Capital Management. Also on Giulianis Texas fund-raising team are Tom Hicks, whose company owns the Texas Rangers baseball team; oil industry executive Jim Lee; and lawyer Patrick C. Oxford.
Did you know that Rudy has been divorced, as well? :-)
So why are the Rudy haters so desperate? Why do they come to the Rudy threads and bring nothing to the discussion other than hate, and the absolute fear the man could win.
I know that every poll shows him ahead, but I think some of his critics fear something else: they fear he will win the presidency. Otherwise, they wouldn't attack him the way they do.
As you might tell from my tagline, I support Duncan Hunter. But Romney IMO has a better chance than either Rudy or McVain. Why? Because he does not have your dumbass attitude that the base does not matter.
I never said the base doesn't matter. But the fanatic fringe of the conservative movement isn't the base. The most singular minded of the base impetuously and short-sightedly sat out the 2006 election - maybe it's time to hedge bets and not rely on the "base" you are talking about.
Post your answers.
Thanks.
Thanks for posting -- looks neat!
I think I need to order some bumperstrips for my Highlander. Haven't put any bumperstrips on since I bought the SUV last January and it is about time!
Duncan Hunter claims he will not have to raise much money - because he is a *true* conservative :-)
What? LOL!!!
Better than Rudy. How many abortions while he was Mayor?
HAAATERS. HAAATERS.
We are not desparate. All we have to do is tell the truth about Rudy.
You, however, have to either sell Rudy as a conservative, or convince conservative voters that their views do not matter.
I do not envy you for having to take either approach.
You are spamming, and you know that.
The truth is spread by word of mouth. False advertising costs millions to spread.
Facts bother liberals. You know that, right?
Credit spiff, btw. It is his chart. Good job Spiff!
Spiff's posts on this thread are right on the mark.
On a different thread, one without spammers, and a completely different temperature level, I'd like to discuss with you who you think comprises the Republican base. We might agree and we might disagree.
I'm not sure.
But I don't want to do it on this thread. It's something that will keep for later.
Abortion is still legal, isn't it? How do you think you are doing in saving the country?
Us broken-glass Republican Conservatives are the base who are not one issue types and reliably vote Republican even if we have to hold our nose to vote!
The fringers like to think they are but the true broken glass Republicans in the end will vote for our candidate which makes me suspect that a lot of these folks may not even be Republicans or will go to the CP with Keyes!
I agree. I look forward to that discussion.
Are you claiming that Hunter will not have to rasie much money to win?
No.
Just that he won't have to raise as much money as the like of Rudy. He won't need a massive media buy to convince primary voters that he is a conservative.
