40 Pieces of Silver
Nov 8, 2006 | Self

Posted on 11/08/2006 10:53:50 PM PST by Natural Law

The GOP leadership sold its soul and sold out its core constituency for the figurative 40 pieces of silver. Whats more, their apologists on this forum expect that all Conservatives should have followed lock-step behind them. Conservatism is an ideology, not a party. If the GOP wants the money, votes, and support of conservatives it must be conservative. We are not here to represent the party, the party is here to represent us. As Reagan once said of the Democratic Party; "it left me, I didn't leave it". Let's see if it can find its way home.

"LOL! Maybe 40 pieces of silver is the pay for teaching the GOP a lesson.

The CWO tells me you have some leadership skills so I ask you to differentiate between teaching a lesson and not rewarding bad behavior. Maybe you can explain how voting for the GOP would not have been a codependent behavior. I think they call it "tough love".

40 pieces of silver is going to seem like a cheap price to pay when the RATS get through with us.

Yeah, it always helps to put pro-abortion, anti-family legislators in power. That'll get 'em to respect the base.

So, it's a 100% or nothing?

1% goes away for a certain issue. Another 1% for another, that one for that one, on and on and on.

Meanwhile the Church of Gay Aborters will follow anyone with their knee pads.

Hello, Speaker Dem and Majority leader Dem! I'm sure *you* will give me 100% of your attention, unlike those Republicans we taught a lesson!

This is not so relatively terrible a loss as it may seem. The Republicans spenders might as well have been Democrats. So far as goes the war, Iraq is but a campaign inthe war and Bush has lost it already with his emphasis on Hearts-and-minds. Our troops can stay there indefinitely and work at pacifying Iraq with a constant resupply of jihadis coming in from the whole Mohammedan world but the American people will not permit it because they see no point to the war. Bush has emphasized that it is a war against a few extremists and actually, what real danger comes from a few extremists? Can't we just send Interpol after them now that we know who they are?

Iraq was never the problem. Islam is and more immediately, Iran is. AQ and Iraq are sideshows to Iran.We got bogged down in the sideshow and camouflaged the coming main event. That event will come and we cannot count on Israel to take care of it for us. Israel appears to be afflicted with the same disease as America, no will to do what must be done because it's not nice.We just need to stop bothering them and give them what they want and they will settle down in their suburban bungalows and quit being a pain.

We have two years to prevent that from happening, but they will be wasted if we think we lost this election because the party was betrayed by its base. The only way we are going to recover is to make an honest assessment of where we (the GOP) screwed up and fix it. We can't control the DEMs or the MSM so focusing on them isn't going to help. As Pogo so aptly put it; "We have met the enemy and he is us".

Giving control of Congress to the liberals isn't tought love...it's pure stupidity.

Its no secret that the American are quick to anger, quick to forgive and quick to forget. Ho Chi Minh said that and OBL said that. Pursuing a war strategy that allowed the war to bleed out over the news every night for five years without a commitment for unconditional victory played into the DEMs hands. Failing to account for that is a failure of leadership.

The Problem as I see it was, the Republicans, have not done one thing, except line their own pockets.Aside from the War, I cannot recall one thing the Republicans have done . And the people don't like that.

My, my isn't it the truth. I wondered how long it would take them to crawl out of the woodwork and "attempt" to vindicate their "decision", or maybe better, "indecision".

They must have had to "work" on it for a while, this is one of the first ones I've seen show his "keyboard" today.

So your objection is to the time table, not the result? The current GOP leadership was slipping further and further to the left on a daily basis. Its kind of like diving to get enough airflow over your control surfaces. Had we returned them we would probably have the same thing by 2008.

LOL! Therein lies the problem...conservatives understand the difference between Republican control of Congress and Democratic control. It's not really difficult to understand.

Buchanan also smacked down the moonbat flunkies on PMSNBC last night when they started talking about this vote being their hallowed mandate for change.

So the Rats had better enjoy it while it lasts.

Cuz' I can't wait to see em' try to play the middle while the 6% or so of the Soros party that brings in most of their cash is screaming for systematic changes, and promising to dump those who don't deliver any.

All I'm seeing is a rationalization, after I caught Natural Law complaining about the Donk's future plans for our country. I'm old enough to remember what it was like to have Donks in power. It cured me of some of my idealism.

If I wasn't half in the bag, I might take the time & energy to be less harsh. But I am, so I won't.

Hang on tight kiddies, we are in for quite the ride. You don't owe anyone your vote. It was yours to use as you saw fit. Ask yourself, what lesson do you think will be taken away from yesterday's bloodbath. From my POV, looks to me like purists are not dependable, their votes are a fungible thing. Better is not good enough to those who want what they want. Carter cured me. What's it gonna take to cure you NL?

"conservatives understand the difference between Republican control of Congress and Democratic control.

So rather than take an action or make an attempt to correct things, even if it means a little short term pain or inconvenience you would prefer to continue to pursue the Doctrine of Relative Filth, that is vote for a party that is slightly less objectionable. I choose to face the music now and force the issue. I am glad that I am not leaving my children's future in your hands.

Now, don't you feel all better after that "cute" little, self-satisfied, self-serving rant?!!

It does sound a bit like some of the stuff that was said about the dim Dummies, if I remember correctly. Or are they your new pals now? If so, I am surprised you decided to show up at all today, after the celebration you MUST have had last night!! Miracles never cease!

LOL! You attempt to correct things in the primaries and get on with business in the generals. Your so-called short term pain involves our troops and a war we're righting...something too many people seem to have forgotten.
