Its no secret that the American are quick to anger, quick to forgive and quick to forget. Ho Chi Minh said that and OBL said that. Pursuing a war strategy that allowed the war to bleed out over the news every night for five years without a commitment for unconditional victory played into the DEMs hands. Failing to account for that is a failure of leadership.

And it is a failure of education. We have the example of LBJ prominently in our past and the 60s and 70s and W repeated the error. Even Korea is an instructive example. We did not drive immediately to victory because we had replaced the army with the Boy Scouts immediately following WWII and then we got bogged down in proportional tit-for-tat and dumping MacArthur and we had to essentially sue for peace at the 38th parallel.
