The GOP leadership sold its soul and sold out its core constituency for the figurative 40 pieces of silver. Whats more, their apologists on this forum expect that all Conservatives should have followed lock-step behind them. Conservatism is an ideology, not a party. If the GOP wants the money, votes, and support of conservatives it must be conservative. We are not here to represent the party, the party is here to represent us. As Reagan once said of the Democratic Party; "it left me, I didn't leave it". Let's see if it can find its way home.

What are you blathering about? The election is over. A far more liberal party was put in power. You're either happy or unhappy about that but just what the hell are you going on about? If you don't care about party why don't you devote yourself to convincing the democrats to be more conservative? Let us know how it works out. blah blah blah.
Some of us FR folks are, in fact, Independent "conservatives". I am not an R nor have I been since 91 when Pat Pukehannon did his Hitler immitation in Houston.
You have been drinking the kool-aid for too long. You are now beginning to talk like a liberal. Your premise appears to be that the GOP was the victim of betrayal by its conservative base, not that it was responsible for the consequences of its actions and inactions. If anyone has been betrayed it is the Evangelical Christians and the Reagan conservatives. No one is entitled to my vote, they have to earn it, and not by being just a little less reprehensible as the competition. The GOP tried to play that card one too many times. Accountability is a conservative value. I do not vote against a party, I vote for it, but I have to have something to base that on. For too many it is obvious that the GOP didn't deliver.
I'm no Buchanan fan at all, but please don't tell me you bought that scumbag Democrat media spin on Buchanan's speech. Please....

Why do I suspect that for all your complaining about what the GOP has to do, you have never gotten involved in bringing about any change in the republican party? You know the parties don't just adopt strategy because yo ugot mad about it, in your living room. There re lots of people who participate in the process.

Juat wondering are you also one who thinks Santorum and Allen lost because of some fantasy that they were not conservatives? Lots of very CONSERVATIVE republicans lost. In all cases the losers were replaced by more LIBERAL candidates. Can we get a little reality in here please?
Might want to read your Bible more thoroughly before pretending to reference scripture as a means to smear conservative republicans. But nice try ...
That's simply not true. A lot of Democrats ran as conservative Democrats. They may be significantly more liberal in reality, but a lot of the Dem candidates went way to the right during the campaign.

They lost because they were a surrogate for the GOP leadership who was not on their local ballot.
That's another good point. General dissastisfaction with the Party leadership does have an effect, sometimes a significant one, on other races.
