OPPOSING IMMIGRANTS ... AND REPUBLICANS. Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO) -- a 2008 White House hopeful and the leading Hill advocate of imposing a radical crackdown on immigration into the US -- broke with the GOP in the upcoming California special election for the congressional CD-48 seat recently vacated by SEC Chair Christopher Cox (R). Although ten of the 17 candidates -- including frontrunners State Senator John Campbell and former Assemblywoman Marilyn Brewer -- are Republicans, Tancredo formally endorsed an ideological ally. Tancredo endorsed American Independent Party nominee Jim Gilchrist, the founder of the "Minuteman Project" of citizen border patrols. "I need Jim Gilchrist with me in Congress. Together Jim and I can fight to stop illegal immigration," said Tancredo. Based upon the most recently filed campaign finance reports, Gilchrist has outraised any of the individual Dems in the race.

Your numbers are WAY off.
Jim Gilchrist kicked John Campbell's butt tonight on the John and Ken show.
We have the MO.
Well I heard most the debate standing in line (I think I may have seen you, but you had a baseball cap on, so I am not sure), and on the radio. In my fair and balanced opinion, Gilchrist lost, and Campbell defanged John and Ken, who got quite friendly with Campbell at the end, apparently unhappy with Gilchrist's performance, and reassured by Campbell's. But that is all neither here nor there. The KFI debate will have no impact on the numbers. Come on, be a sport, and post your numbers. Don't be coy. Just let it all hang out. If you don't want to do it publically, freepmail me. As you know, all freepmails to me are totally confidential, always.
There is far more going on in this race than the debate.
24 hours and you'll have the only numbers that matter.
Campbell did not win the debate.
The undecided voters in the room left supporting Gilchrist. I know that for a fact. I talked to most of them, and they left loaded down with Jim Gilchrist materials.
Campbell snuck into the room, and slunk out at the end.
Can't have him sullying himself talking to those lowly voters, after all.
/sarcasm
I've talked to thousands of 48th District voters.
I have yet to meet one that has even talked with John Campbell.
They aren't calling him 'Milk-Carton Campbell' for naught.
Lol I hope Gilchrist can pull it off, we need him in Congress and on the Immigration Reform Caucus with Tancredo.
The audiance was reflective of the listeners of the John and Ken Show, who tend to be Conservative Independents, and dislike the Republican Establishment and support Conservatives outside or on the outside fringe of the Republican Party, like Gilchrist. From the start of the debate, not only was John and Ken for Gilchrist, but they and the audiance were clearly cheering and unfairly routing for Gilchrist. I have listened to the debate, and the points at which Gilchrist attacked Campbell were mostly unsupported fabrications and exaggerations against him. As for policy discussion, Campbell was far more indepth into his beliefs, history and plans than Gilchrist, while Gilchrist seemed to just be riling the Partisan audiance, which he clearly packed with his own supporters. At times Campbell would state positions that were almost identical to Gilchrist's own, and the audiance would either say nothing or even boo, when had it been Gilchrist speaking they would have cheered and clapped. Campbell was a good sport, kept his cool, and I believe won the debate on what was said, nevertheless, however by the audiance reaction (which means nothing considering it was a partisan Gilchrist audiance) you might have thought Gilchrist won.
It certainly means 'something' when you consider the size of John and Ken's audience in the 48th District.
There you might be right, but I just wish Gilchrist ran as a Republican, its very risky with a Republican and Gilchrist in the race in order to get a Conservative this way.
Very few voters showed up to vote today. Maybe close to 70% of the vote will be by absentee ballot. I am more confident of my numbers as a result. Brewer and Campbell had an active absentee ballot campaign, and apparently the rest did not. We should have the absentee count by maybe 9 pm. Without Brewer in the race, Campbell would have had this wrapped up tonight. If I am wrong, way wrong EV will quite enjoy that I'm sure. :)
Cap. will win in Nov . and now D. Issaa has asked the Pubs to boot Tancredo for being disloyal. Unfortunately, Tom is a one issue guy and while Jim Gil. is a good guy, he could not win in a solid Pub district. Better the Camp then Marilyn. That is jut reality. Of course, Tom will do well in Colo. next year but my guess is the Pubs will have to have some immigration agenda to run on or they will get their brains beat in with it by those wascally hypocritical Dems.
Simple solution - the Republicans get behind Tancredo in 2008 - party unity guaranteed!
I think John and Ken are spittle-frothing demagogues. I think demagoguery is always destructive. I cannot stand them.
