Additional car-tax relief hit a dead end yesterday.

House-passed legislation jump-starting the rollback of the local tax on personal motor vehicles was, in effect, defeated for the year in the Senate Finance Committee.

The committee, dominated by moderate Republicans who consider the car-tax phaseout a budget-buster, refused to even vote on the bill, sponsored by Del. L. Scott Lingamfelter, R-

Lemme guess. . .the RINO caucus did it again.

When are we going to STOP supporting these idiots, and run either true conservatives OR sit on our hands on Election Day, and not pull the lever when a RINO's name is on it. . .

I wish I had an answer. And I wish we could organize to get rid of the traitors.

I'm kind of at a loss. My Senator and Delegate are actually on the right side of the issues.

I'd be willing to help elsewhere.

And even WORSE here in NoVa, you've got the RINO King,Rep. Tom Davis, plus his new wife, State Senator Jeanmarie Devolites-Davis controlling the Fairfax party apparat, having driven the conservatives out years ago with the Underwood fiasco. I'm glad I moved out to Prince William County 6 years ago, we still have conservatives here . . . .

Did you get smart and move? I grew up in Charlottesville. The liberals are taking over there. Virginia needs to be careful.

The liberals certainly seem to be in full force in the Virginia Senate, don't they?

Kilgore ping. Not worthy of a full thread (it's about Kaine)...

Kaine breaks tie on Deeds measure

They are not even running mates, and already Democratic gubernatorial candidate Timothy M. Kaine and attorney general hopeful R. Creigh Deeds are butting heads.

Over goat cheese.

Lt. Gov. Kaine, as presiding officer of the Virginia Senate, broke his first policy tie of the session by killing an amendment proposed by Sen. Deeds, a Bath County lawyer who is seeking the Democratic nomination to run for attorney general.

----

Today's talking point: If Kaine can't get along with his running mates, how is he expected to be able to lead the Commonwealth?

(work with me, it's Saturday morning)

Corin Stormhands is generous to refer to these these vermin as traitors, which connotes some degree of humanity. I think of politicians as gangsters and theives who use the coercive apparatus of the state to implement their ideas at the point of a pistol. If one has such grand ideas, why not try to convince folks peacefully, instead of resorting to violence.

I proudly drive a 1987 Honda and the property tax is minimal, but the degree of the theft does not make it somthing other than theft.

I proudly drive a 1987 Honda and the property tax is minimal …

Mine is a slightly modified 1983 Camaro Z28. It’s listed as a 22 year old Chevy Coup – and no tax bill. The car tax, outrageous new car insurance premiums – and the abysmal design and performance – are good reasons why the Camaro will be the last car I ever own. Maybe if others kept their old cars and refused to buy a new one things would change? My Camaro has over 396,000 miles on it. I have kept it well maintained. It looks good and runs great. Why should I trade it in for a new one? My maintenance averages less than $500 a year. Full coverage insurance runs about $416 a year.
