                   | My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly! By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guides we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and I... And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night... to kiss their face in our flight much to their surprise and delight my Dragon Fly and me in sight... Such a view do we share away up here in the air of breezes soft through our hair my Dragon Fly and me a pair... bentfeather© | | | | |

    SHARDS

 On guard one night
 Beside a dug-in fifty,
 Routine firing in the distance,
 Tracers arcing on the horizon,
I witnessed in the snowy field
 Beneath a gibbous moon
 The wild dancing of rabbits.

 Days of steady rain
 Washed away the enshrouding snow,
And in the field and woods
 Decembers dead
 Came up like wildflowers.

 The dead German
 Lay on his back
 In the muddy ditch
 One arm skyward
 As though in supplication
 A jokester wire man
 Had lain a phone line
 Through the fingers
 Of the reaching hand.

 Entering the crosscut town,
Which on a whim the lumbering colonel
 Had not let us shell,
 We were greeted
 By his corded dead.

 Beside the road,
 Where it had been caught
 By a strafing fighter
Was a burned out German gasoline truck.
 Thirty yards away
 Burned lobster-red,
 Lay two bodies.
 I felt blessed
 Not to have witnessed
 Them fleeing
 Aflame and screaming.

She was checking her home email from work. I didn't think she'd see it til she got home. I told her I was sorry for making her cry at work. She said she loved me. She better always call me daddy, she knows that too!

    Flurry,

What a beautiful tribute to your daughter and her husband.

Thank you so much for posting it in the Lair this morning.

New vows, new lives, new paths to walk.

How very much you love your daughter. She is blessed.

    Shards.

My goodness, this poem made me see so clearly the horrible scenes war brings.
Often I write about shards the sharp pieces that stab and bite a memory reflected in ones mind.

I call my place The Attic, and from it comes Attic Rain filled with shards and shadows, haunting scenes from the past.
To: bentfeather
This guy is good at describing the horrors seen during war.

Thank you. Being the father of the bride was one of the most if not the most bittersweet events of my life. Everyone said I did a great job at wedding and reception. It seemed surreal at the time to me.

    The night empty and close,
 being your friend,
 flaunting cold night eyes,
 until endless thoughts sleep
 and saneness found...

    Midnight angel
take my hand
Moonlit soul
is a desperate man
Breathe my life
and be with me
Things to do
and things to see
Don't be afraid
I won't be far
I need your fire
to warm my heart
Be my love
and stay with me
Things to do
and things to see
Midnight angel
take my hand
Take me with you
I'll be your man

i took a turn i shouldn't have. i went down the wrong road knowing i might lose my way but taking a chance.

along came my friend, stopped me before i got too far off course and pointed me back in the right direction.

everyone should strive to have one best friend,
 i'd be lost without mine.
