The GUILD 9-29-2003 My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys
Posted on 09/29/2003 10:13:55 AM PDT by Hillary's Lovely Legs
1. They were never looking for trouble.
2. But when trouble came, they faced it with courage.
3. They were always on the side of right.
4. They defended good people against bad people.
5. They had high morals.
6. They had good manners.
7. They were honest.
8. They spoke their minds and they spoke the truth, regardless of what people thought or "political correctness," which no one had ever heard of back then.
9. They were a beacon of integrity in the wild, wild West.
10. They were respected. When they walked into a saloon (where they usually drank only sarsaparilla), the place became quiet, and the bad guys kept their distance.
11. If in a gunfight, they could outdraw anyone. If in a fist fight, they could beat up anyone.
12. They always won. They always got their man. In victory, they rode off into the sunset.

As the blogger from MerdeInFrance so sagely observed of this cartoon, "Le Monde [Al-Jazeera] on the Seine misses the mark. We can't all be geniuses. The French still do not understand that 'cowboy' is a compliment."

Thank you!
Erm,
was there a line about "They always look great in jeans and chaps?"
Or is that too shallow ?
(Ok, so I am shallow).

We're pushing 38 degrees at present. Brrr.
Wow, some of these Hollywood types are deep thinkers, aren't they:
Norman ("All in the Family") Lear is hosting a $2,000-a-head fund-raiser tomorrow at his L.A. estate for Gen. Wesley Clark and persuading all his Hollywood friends to switch their allegiances from Sen. John Kerry and Howard Dean . (PageSix)
Looks like no one knows, or cares, where Gen. Empty Suit actually stands on the issues.

Kind of a drag? Al Gore remains a noncandidate for President, even though Broadway star Harvey Fierstein begged him to run when the ex-veep and wife Tipper visited his dressing room after the Saturday night performance of "Hairspray." Fierstein recounted: "I said, 'You know, Al, I grew up thinking that I could be Ethel Merman, and I never gave up my dream and now look at me. And you grew up thinking that someday you'd be President. If you just held onto to that dream, you, too, could have it come true.' But he just laughed." linkOn the other hand, Al Gore would probably make a better-looking Ethel Merman than Harvey Fierstein.
