Kind of a drag? Al Gore remains a noncandidate for President, even though Broadway star Harvey Fierstein begged him to run when the ex-veep and wife Tipper visited his dressing room after the Saturday night performance of "Hairspray." Fierstein recounted: "I said, 'You know, Al, I grew up thinking that I could be Ethel Merman, and I never gave up my dream and now look at me. And you grew up thinking that someday you'd be President. If you just held onto to that dream, you, too, could have it come true.' But he just laughed." link

On the other hand, Al Gore would probably make a better-looking Ethel Merman than Harvey Fierstein.
