I found a work-around that will let me have the best of both worlds. I've already put 5 hours into this project, and I dislike the subject matter to the extreme. Or have I mentioned that before? 8>)

Evan got home about an hour ago.

He had called Jeff's dad on his cell phone,to let him know he was on his way over........but was told the young man had just passed away............

He offered to come over to be with the family....but was told there was really nothing he could do at this time. They did ask him to be a pallbearer, though.

So he tracked down another of their friends to let him know, and then came back home.So I spent an hour or so with him, talking it over.........he is pretty shook up........but will be okay.

Just read the thread.. what a difficult time for him/you.

We are all too sheltered from death it seems... a few generations ago thre wer no escapes (hospitals, hospice, hursing homes)... families & friends were there for births, deaths & all in between.

For some reason, I am reminded again of this quote...........although I can't stop myself from substituting the words "My son" for "Normal day"..........

Oh, Mozie .... I am soooooo sorry. I know this is tough for all of you. Prayers for Jeff's parents .... and for Evan ..... and for you as you help him deal with this.


Some time ago I saw this posted on FR and it struck me enough that I not only saved it but have printed out a copy and keep it in my Bible. My family all have instructions that I want it read at my funeral.

Woke up, hungry as a bear, made coffee, should sell it as jet fuel (or hair remover), strong is a understatement, clicked on to kayak's breakfast and realized, all is not lost after all. THANKS!

Ya'll caught up on rain yet? We need some bad down here.

Certainly not caught up on rain here. We had a quarter of an inch the other day, but we just can't seem to get anything signifigant.

Harvest is in full swing. Corn yields are amazingly good. Far better than we had expected. I shudder to thing how much corn there would have been if we'd had some rain in July and August.

Soybean yields will be disappointing. Even less than expected.

This is a livestock intensive county. The good news is the huge corn crop will mean cheap feed for the livestock feeders, and yet everyone will have something to sell, since the grain yields are so huge.

Great! I know when I was a kid I worked on my cousins farm and weather was THE topic of every day.

Yes. Our entire lives revolve around the weather, as do our neighbor's lives. It's more than a 'job', it's a way of life.
