Holes in the Air
By LonePalm
It was a morning like any other
The day started out most fair
Four planes full of friends fell out of the sky
Now were living with holes in the air.
Twas just before nine, Eastern Daylight Time
I sat in my office chair.
Come quick, someone said, The towers on fire.
Now were living with holes in the air.
Helpless we stood and unknowing we watched
Smoke rising into the air.
Just what happened? I heard it was a plane.
Now were living with holes in the air.
The second plane hit, a fresh burst of fire
And all we could do was stare
Can we help? Its too far. What can we do?
Now were living with holes in the air.
Then came the word, the Pentagons been hit.
Its really too much to bear.
Were under attack, no way to strike back.
Now were living with holes in the air.
Heroes rushed in as workers rushed out
Save lives, was their only care.
They just went to work and never came home.
Now were living with holes in the air.
In a plane to the west, men cried Lets Roll!
Free men refuse to despair.
They chose to save others, not die like sheep.
Now were living with holes in the air.
A great roaring sound, tower two came down.
Quickly, we offered a prayer.
Tragedy not done, down came tower one.
Now were living with holes in the air.
We lost Battalion Chief Mike, the brave.
Beautiful Barbara, fair
Still in our hearts, they died as they lived
Now were living with holes in the air.

I started writing this today as personal therapy I rebooted my office computer over and over and over.
I wanted to make it longer but I just can't write any more right now.

Teach and Vast,
I hope this will
redress my absence from class recently.

Very nice Lone........ if you don't mind, I'll add my son's poem to your thread...... he's 12:
The Knowledge Through The Memorial
by WhyisaTexasgirlinPA's Son
They came out of nowhere
It was too late
A single second would begin many Americans' fate.
They slipped under our nose,
How did they do it?
To think that this would happen
would make us think we made a mistake.
How could a human being possibly take in pleasure from this?
To sink so low, you have to go undercover
and find an alias.
And for what, to destroy the lives of the innocent?
America was breeched
The unthinkable happened,
But if there is one thing that I have learned,
it is that we must never forget that day,
but make sure that we keep the will to go on.
God Bless

I also write for therapy, but poetry and music are not really my strong points.
I scribbled a lot today - about the streets where we live and the streets where they lived.
God bless and keep them and may He bless those fighting to keep it from happening again and Please God, continue to Bless America.

Very good, Lone Palm.
We all need a catharsis for that awful day.
Mine is music. I've always taken solace in music, and this is no different.
Maybe it's to drown out the cries of my fellow Americans as they died............

Get that lad a screen name and let him start writing pieces for the forum.
We need his intelligence around here.

Brian wanted me to tell you: "not a lot of people think that I am amazing; my family does. And for me to hear that coming from you, saying that I am amazing, just brings warmth to my heart"
To: Gabz
Thanks Gabz..... I just pulled him from school and began home schooling him (again)...... I think I might learn quite a bit from my guy this year!
To: TexasCowboy
And share my computer with him? Are you crazy? lol
Ok - I might have to do that........
To: WhyisaTexasgirlinPA
'"not a lot of people think that I am amazing; my family does. And for me to hear that coming from you, saying that I am amazing, just brings warmth to my heart" ' Then get ready to have your heart warmed a bunch!
You're going to hear that more and more as you get older....and not just from your family.
To: TexasCowboy; LonePalm
I think we took over Lone's thread...... his poem was amazing........ thanks so much for your kind words to my son.
To: WhyisaTexasgirlinPA
Give him a great big hug from me.
