[Soaring Feather]

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guides
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and I...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

I always encourage her. We're best friends, what kind
of friend would I be if I didn't encourage her? She
doesn't really think her work will go far. I told her
to keep publishing possibilities in mind. She said she'd
love for that to happen, she'd feel like she accomplished
something. I think all poets feel that way...

Yes, no one believes in their work at first. I was first published in 1984, first time I ever submitted to that particular house.

Poetry is heart music, and a song is poetry to music.
But there are an awful lot of amateurs out there.

Awwww. That's a huge compliment but I think I have a way to go before I'm worthy of that.

I'm afraid if I took any time at all I would re-write everything and then it just wouldn't be right. I prefer it as it arrives in my head, from my heart. :)

doesn't see her poetry as a big deal, I guess. I've
never had any of my stuff published either.
