I always encourage her. We're best friends, what kind
of friend would I be if I didn't encourage her? She
doesn't really think her work will go far. I told her
to keep publishing possibilities in mind. She said she'd
love for that to happen, she'd feel like she accomplished
something. I think all poets feel that way...

Yes, no one believes in their work at first. I was first published in 1984, first time I ever submitted to that particular house.
