Happy "Second" Birthday (to Me) and an Announcement
self ^ | August 19, 2003 | Joe Vitale

Posted on 08/19/2003 8:51:04 AM PDT by MrConfettiMan

Today is an exciting one for me, so I just thought I'd toot my own horn for a minute and let everyone know today is my second birthday. Two years ago this morning I woke up with limbs a'twitchin' and within five hours was informed I had a brain tumor. *shudder* The event pretty much set my life clock back to zero, which is why I refer to the day as my “second” birthday. At the time, I never thought I'd live two years but here I am still living, breathing and enjoying life. Isn't it great to be alive? (That's rhetorical, as I simply assume the answer is yes. :)

To those of you who didn't know this about me, feel free to browse the original prayer thread (Prayers Requested for MrConfettiMan and His Family) and/or visit the source URL noted above where I've been keeping an online log of my journey since it began. I'd like to thank FReepers for all their prayers and good thoughts during the past two years on behalf of my family and me. You have no idea how much they've meant to me.

I don't care to spend too much time boring you with a medical update but suffice it to say by the grace of God my MRIs continue to be stable. My next MRI is in October and if that one remains like all the rest the brain tumor experts at Duke will recommend I extend my MRI schedule from every four months to every six months (the majority of BT survivors never go beyond six months between MRIs and I don't intend to either). Unfortunately, my seizures (slight finger twitches and numbness in my foot) continue to occur every week and a half to two weeks so I don't allow myself to get behind the wheel of a vehicle (it's been well over a year since I've driven - *sigh*).

The Announcement
I'm very happy and excited to announce that I'm going to be a first-time daddy come November! MrsConfettiMan is five months pregnant. Her due date is November 12th (one day before her birthday). Another freeper is on the way!

After Little Peanut arrives, I'll be sure to post a thread announcing the latest freeper complete with pictures.

That is too funny! We're calling ours Peanut as well. Our nickname for the first baby was Critter - which some didn't care for, but my wife and I loved. :-)

we don't know if it's a boy or a girl because we want to be surprised when the baby is born. Actually, my wife did want to know at first but I insisted on leaving it as a surprise but since then she's come around to my way of thinking.

I also wanted it to be a surprise with our first child, and my wife eventually agreed that was the way to go. This time we're both in agreement that we won't find out until the birthday.

I noticed Joe Vitale on the title of this post and wondered if you were that author, as you both seem rather sharp.

Very good to hear from you, too, Dan. So sorry to hear your daughter, you and the rest of your family was faced with such a traumatic event as a brain tumor diagnosis. The name Ben Carson is well-known within the BT community and, as I'm sure you're well aware, he's one of the best in his field so your daughter was in very capable hands. I also imagine Dr. Peter Berger at JHH performed the pathology report on your daughter's tumor and by all accounts he is the number one expert in the world on brain tumor pathology.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if there's anything I can do for you.

Prayers and best wishes for your daughter, you and the rest of yourfamily. Joe (MCM)

D'OH! Sorry for the multiple posts, Dan. A brain tumor is the best excuse for all mishaps (whether electronic or otherwise :).

Joe, thanks for the ping.

And the update, you have defied their predictions and I am glad you are doing so good.

I still remember it being you that was first out on the front lines to fight against the enemies of America.

Congratulations on the baby!

And a heartfelt "Thank You, MCM" for challenging us in 1998 to get off of our asses and conFRont the evil Clintoons on their own turf.

We at FRee Republic, and the DC Chapter in particular, owe you a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid.

We look forward to having you back in the FReep line with us, hale and hearty, along with Mrs.ConfettiMan and BabyConfettiMan!
