CT: I-95, I-91, I-84
DE: I-95, I-295, I-495

I've been nowhere near WA state and therefore have yet to set foot (or wheel) on Interstate 82. Yet I paid for it. Wonder why I haven't have sleepless nights over this?

I went to the barber today and told her to cut my hair all off. I look like a biker/prison camp inmate. Feel my head.

I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but we all pay for a lot of things we do not use. But before I explain why your post is someone inane, I must explain something that seems to have escaped you.
Congress authorized a system of highways during the Eisenhower administration to interconnect military bases. What you think are interstate highways are, in fact, teh National Defense Highway System. The purposed of that system was to move men and materiel rapidly around the country should the United States homeland be attacked. (One of the lessons learned from the technological developements of World War II was that those technologies, particularly aviation technologies and missile technologies would require rapid mobilization and deployments.)
I doubt you would make this statement: "Aircraft carriers. You paid for them. How many have you been on?"
Yes, it's true we paid for the 12 active aircraft carriers. But that does not mean we can simply paddle up to one and expect a tour by an admiral.

No, this isn't a zot alert....we'll know the mods are sleeping if this doesn't get moved to chat.

Look for the blue signs with the 5 white stars on the interstate. I believe that signifies a stretch of road straight enough to land a large plane on.

As a young college student in the mid 70's I traveled a 100-mile stretch of I-40 most weekends between school and home in West Tennessee.
Those were good days, cruisin' down that dark ribbon of hiway in my '73 Mach 1 while listening to Lynard Skynard!

Ah, you kids and your "interstate highways"!
Route 60- now that was a highway! And you could drive farm vehicles on it too, in fact I believe most people in front of me did!
