Not only human decency, but simple economics.
The organ donor industry (and that's exactly what it is) is not only a vulture business, but a political one. Forget about any consideration for anything if you happen to be a smoker. and they are really picky if the donor happens to be a smoker.

the organ "crises" is a supply/demand situation. there isn't enough suplpy to meet demand. so you haev two choices: decrease demand, or increase supply. you cannot decrease demand, so...
you need an incentive to increase the supply. playing upon people's guilt and appealing to their compassion isn't working.

He did us proud! Terrible sentence, but it's true.
We go school shopping today. Thursday is first day of school. He has many adventures this year for the normal essay of "What did you do on your summer vacation?"

Funny you should say that. Amazon has a special to order Buckaroo Bonzai and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy together for a special price.
To: Gabz
Go get 'em, Gabz-if you don't stand right over the school administration, they will never do anything. They mostly get paid to sit on their asses.

It would take a handful of the little beggars to hurt you. Probably mild hallucinations on just a few.

About 2 years ago I actually called CPS and discussed this attitude with a case worker. After we discussed all the normal questions about health, enough food, a roof over the head, no physical abuse, etc., she told me to tell them to call.
She told me in no uncertain terms that if they got a call about child abuse it would be investigated, but in the case of a 2 parent family and the only complaint being the parents were smokers, the complainant would most likely be the only one getting into trouble - for filing a false complaint.
I gave these jagoffs that information as well as the phone number for CPS - and what did they do with it? Nothing, except turn around the information and claim that I had been investigated by CPS for child abuse.

these jetrks sound like democrats to me. does that mean that if you call the police station with a question about traffic, that you're under investigation for a crime?
such stupidity defies logic.

The fact that it is a vulture business, and political insures that I will not donate, and I don't wish to receive. I honestly believe that when God says its' over, your number is up. Each of us is free to choose whether we will accept extraordinary measures to try to prolong life, and I choose not to.

Oh, gosh, Fawnn. That was on our honeymoon in Washington, D.C. We went to the World Barbecue Cookoff, and there was the Weinermobile. A lady grabbed us and took our photo. It was hysterical. We each got a whistle, too. LOL!

Kudos on being proactive and calling CPS yourself! and you should try to ignore the losers as much as you can. Clearly, the world is filled with undesirables and unfortunately we must pass through life alongside of them. : )

Off we go into the wild blue yonder,
Climbing high into the sun;
Here they come zooming to meet our thunder,
At 'em boys, Give 'er the gun! (Give 'er the gun now!)
Down we dive, spouting our flame from under,
Off with one helluva roar!
We live in fame or go down in flame. Hey!
Nothing'll stop the U.S. Air Force! The audience was sung this song at the "graduation." It was really cool.

you need an incentive to increase the supply. And telling a quarter of the population that their organs aren't wanted and they won't be getting any because they smoke is not a very good incentive, is it????
playing upon people's guilt and appealing to their compassion isn't working.
And they have already alienated a quarter of the adult population.
My husband knows my position, but I no longer have the organ donor designation on my drivers license.
