In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. Practice makes perfect.....post on....


surmise \sur*myze\, verb, transitive/intransitive; noun
surmising, surmised, surmises

1. To infer (something) without sufficiently conclusive evidence
2. To make a guess or conjecture
3. Reflection; thought. [Obs.]
4. An idea or opinion based on insufficiently conclusive evidence; a conjecture.

Etymology: [Middle English surmisen, to accuse, from Old French surmise, feminine past participle of surmettre : sur-, sur- + mettre, to put (from Latin mittere).]

and absolutely true. One time I was mad at the cat and told her to go upstairs and wake the tyke up - the cat then proceded to do just that!

Well, it would depend on the Race actually.


I could not in good conscience vote for him against a reliable conservative, however, in a Race against a machine RINO, or another Dem......

Mine are indoor, and the old cat had destroyed a sofa when I first got him. I didn't want the 2nd cat to do the same, although in retrospect, she probably would not have. She is much calmer than he ever was.

I'm feeling much better about voting for Ted in the '80 Democratic primary. After all, I was only 20 years old at the time, and in college working on a journalism degree.
