while my parents were always dems, i was MORE liberal than they, growing up, and ended up WAY more conservative at the end. my father could not come to grips with the fact that he birthed two republicans.

when the tyke was born the ex demanded that I get rid of the cat - i refused of scourse. She said that the cat would suck the breath out of the baby. I told her that was nonesense.
the first night the tyke spent in her own room in her crib, I was awakened in the middle of the night by a catbite to the nose. When I got up to swat the fool cat, I heard the baby crying. the cat was getting me to tend to the kid!
Cat used to sit up on the changing table and watch the baby sleep. never once did the cat get into the crib.

When I was a kid working in the summer for my uncle who was a drywall contractor, most construction people were democrats (my uncle was a republican). Now, you would be hard pressed to find a construction worker who is not a conservative and a republican, unless they are a union member. The unions are not all that popular in this part of the state.

It was trying to figure out what was wrong with the rather large hairless kitten.

ITA, but that is easier said than done in TX and the South in general. PA and elsewhere in the NE, unions are the norm, and a horrible one, at that.

"It seems like it only takes one house in a neighborhood where drugs are used/sold to put everyone else who lives there at risk of everything from annoyance to death."
It depends on the drugs.. if it's just pot, they usually aren't too bad.. if it's coke or crack or something anything else other than pot, they get dangerous.

Am I the only one of us that has never been a real Lib??? Despite growing up in a non-political Democrat family, I've been a right winger forever. As a youngin, remember rooting for the Gipper to beat the commies, both foreign and domestic.
