Just a little LOVE SONG...
Leaves from the diary of a single dad ^ | Aug. 8 2003 | Carlo3b, a FReeper lover.

Just a little LOVE SONG...

It comes at a time when everyone needs a breather in their complex lives, someone write a song that stirs the deepest emotion, from the recesses of their soul to the twinkle in their eyes.

Ares son of Zeus; god of prophecy, light, poetry, and music, may not have started it, but he at least recorded it, if only in mythology, music is emotion. Songs in general, and LOVE SONGS in particular, have answered our need to express our inner passion, yearning, and desires, into sounds and words.

Poetry, and verse do translate into feelings and conjure up strong desires, lust, and yearnings, but when blended with sound it seems to hit the desired note in all of us..

Share with us, if you would please, your idea of the true love song, and if I assure you I won't tell anyone, tell me how it worked on you.... fingers crossed, eyes squeezed shut, mouth covered... ;)

Thought you might enjoy the words to Dance With My Father. I don't really care for Luther Vandross, but I like the words to the song.

Caution: The song may start when you open the link. Adjust your sound accordingly.

The following is a true love letter, without the need for music to fulfill it's emotional message...
I have posted this letter before, because I find the depth of love, commitment, and faith, so poignant and alive, as to pull you into the emotions between these loving people.
His wonderful use of words to describe his unabashed love for his wife and country, is such a wondrous experience for us to able to share.....

Sullivan Ballou's letter to his beloved wife Sarah, July 14,1861 Camp Clark, Washington DC, as it was read on the PBS series The CIVIL WAR by Ken Burns series....
Dear Sarah:
The indications are very strong that we shall move in a few days - perhaps tomorrow. And lest I should not be able to write you again I feel impelled to write a few lines that may fall under your eye when I am no more.

I have no misgivings about, or lack of confidence in the cause in which I am engaged, and my courage does not halt or falter. I know how American Civilization now leans upon the triumph of the government and how great a debt we owe to those who went before us through the blood and suffering of the Revolution. And I am willing - perfectly willing - to lay down all my joys in this life, to help maintain this government, and to pay that debt.

Sarah, my love for you is deathless, it seems to bind me with mighty cables that nothing but omnipotence can break; and yet my love of Country comes over me like a strong wind and bears me irresistibly with all those chains to the battlefield. The memory of all the blissful moments I have enjoyed with you come crowding over me, and I feel most deeply grateful to God and you, that I have enjoyed them for so long. And how hard it is for me to give them up and burn to ashes the hopes and future years, when, God willing, we might still have lived and loved together, and see our boys grown up to honorable manhood around us.

If I do not return, my dear Sarah, never forget how much I loved you, nor that when my last breath escapes me on the battle field, it will whisper your name...

Forgive my many faults, and the many pains I have caused you. How thoughtless, how foolish I have sometimes been!...

But, 0 Sarah, if the dead can come back to this earth and flit unseen around those they love, I shall always be with you, in the brightest day and in the darkest night... always, always. And when the soft breeze fans your cheek, it shall be my breath, or the cool air your throbbing temple, it shall be my spirit passing by.

Sarah do not mourn me dead; think I am gone and wait for me, for we shall meet again...

Sullivan Ballou was killed a week later at the 1st Battle of Bull Run.

I remember some guy had an ad in Rolling Stone magazine and he was selling an 'original' love letter from Paul McCartney to Linda.

He was asking $250,000 for it!!

I sent him a dime and asked him to make a photo copy for me.
He never replied and I never got my dime back!

Wonder if he ever sold it?

A sad one!

From 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

4 Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful;
5 it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;
6 it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right.
7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hope all things, endures all things.

From 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

So few know how vital to a loving life and providing loving thoughts most passages of the bible are, as you have reminded us. Thank you sweet girl..

Poorly translated from the original Portuguese, one of the most passionate ballads I have ever heard.

*

I’m going tell you about something the eyes cannot see

Things that only the heart can understand

It’s basically the same as love

It’s impossible to be happy without you.

*

The rest is the sea, and all that I could never express to you,

Such beautiful things that I have to give to you

It’s basically the same as love

It’s impossible to be happy without you

*

The first time it was the city, the second it was eternity

And now I know and the certainty fills me like a wave that grows on the ocean,

A vastness beyond all the stars we ever counted,

It’s basically the same as love

It’s impossible to be happy without you.

*

*

*

Da primeira

vez era a cidade

Da segunda o cais a eternidade,

Agora eu já sei

Da onda que se ergueu no mar

E das estrelas que esquecemos de contar

Fundamental é mesmo o amor

É impossível ser feliz sozinho

*

Great link to the Sarah letter. Thank you.

Another tear jerker.

LONESTAR

I'm Already There
(Richie McDonald/Gary Baker/Frank Myers)

He called her on the road
From a lonely cold hotel room
Just to hear her say I love you one more time
And when he heard the sound
Of the kids laughing in the background
He had to wipe away a tear from his eye
A little voice came on the phone
And said "Daddy when you coming home"
He said the first thing that came to his mind

I'm already there
Take a look around
I'm the sunshine in your hair
I'm the shadow on the ground
I'm the whisper in the wind
I'm your imaginary friend
And I know I'm in your prayers
Oh I'm already there

She got back on the phone
Said I really miss you darling
Don't worry about the kids they'll be alright
Wish I was in your arms
Lying right there beside you
But I know that I'll be in your dreams tonight
And I'll gently kiss your lips
Touch you with my fingertips
So turn out the light and close your eyes

I'm already there
Don't make a sound
I'm the beat in your heart
I'm the moonlight shining down
I'm the whisper in the wind
And I'll be there until the end
Can you feel the love that we share
Oh I'm already there

We may be a thousand miles apart
But I'll be with you wherever you are

I'm already there
Take a look around
I'm the sunshine in your hair
I'm the shadow on the ground
I'm the whisper in the wind
And I'll be there until the end
Can you feel the love that we share
Oh I'm already there
Oh I'm already
There

How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)
James Taylor

How sweet it is to be loved by you

I needed the shelter of someone's arms
And there you were
I needed someone
to understand my ups and downs
And there you were
With sweet love and devotion
Deeply touching my emotion
I want to stop and thank you baby
I just want to stop and thank you baby

I close my eyes at night,
Wondering where would I be without you in my life
Everything I did was just a bore,
Everywhere I went it seems I'd been there before
But you brightened up for me all of my days
With a love so sweet in so many ways
I want to stop and thank you baby

You were better for me than I was for myself
For me, there's you and there ain't nobody else
I want to stop and thank you baby
I just want to stop and thank you baby

Following Dennis Miller's recent speech on the hijacking of he word "gay" for the use of a select few - I want to state that both the color lavender and Broadway Musicals belong to the entire human race.

There, I said it.
