The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…
Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
The Road Goes Ever On
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

making the first move to express interest in a girl is really hard to do. You got that right, brother!
Most of the time it almost requires some hint of interest on the girls' part to get us over the hurdle. Even a smile or some eye contact, but better yet some idle chitchat...
Or maybe an invitation to play some backgammon.

Okay, first I'm telling Rosie to slap you and not listen to the first half and last sentence of what you said.
Then I'm gonna say ya did real good on the middle part.
And you wonder why the girls you're around are always likin' the bad guys. Hello.
So, are you having a successful evening yet?

Is the distillery fire out? Last I heard the fire chief was expecting it to burn for 3 or 4 days. Yikes.
I've decided to have a JB black label in memoriam, vice my usual Wild Turkey.

You're welcome Joshsen. I use the screen name wneighbor because my old house is only 6 miles from the president's ranch in Texas. I kinda liked the idea of being his neighbor even before he was president. - Kimberly

Oh yah... like you couldn't have predicted that. You can't even know how tough it was not to respond to the toe-curling post with the classic joke about pantyhose...
Oops. Dangit... see what you went and made me do?? :-)
This'll be a fairly short freeping evening. Gonna run out and buy a TV for my swingin' bachelor pad. Don't have a phone or internet access there yet, unless I can pirate off of one of my neighbors' wireless. Might be fun, but it's not too neighborly especially right after moving in...

Wow MBY. I really like that post. I will have to say that it was true for me. My grandparents were definitely the influence for all good in my life.
And as I read the article, I thought back on the days after Grama's funeral. The middle granddaughter is 5. She spent a really large amount of time in my lap (scuse me *HUGH SMILE*) discussing where Grama was. Eventually, in Abby's words, Grama was not in that box in the ground, it was sort of like a mirror of a reflection of her in the sky.
Okay, so I didn't totally comprehend her ramblings about reflections in the sky from a Biblical perspective. But, it was so hopeful and peaceful for her that it was just totally cool that she could talk about it that way.
And in the midst of it all she said she really hoped that she was going to have a reflection in the sky someday too. I told her she could and talked about salvation and she said the prayer. :-) Right there in my lap in Grama's bedroom where I'd sat in Grama's lap through my childhood.
And I haven't told too many people that because lots of folks think 5 is just way too young. But, hey, she wanted assurance and that's what our Jesus is for.

Yes, josh, it is very close. But, it's an old farm house that is falling down now. I live 209 miles from that place now but it's 215 miles from the Ranch.
I'm going to get a Flat Frodo photo somewhere over on the road to the ranch when I get him.
And I'm also going to take Frodo's photo at the house in the town where I lived where the British Prime Minister Tony Blair stayed when he visited the ranch. That house is right across the street from my favorite Aunt's house and we have spent lots of time in it! -Kimberly
