Have you noticed the trend in Convention coverage, where the newsies give you their real time take on a speech rather than broadcasting it fully? Can anything be more boring than Jeff Greenfield trying to sound profound when listening to a political speech? These guys want to be the stars, not the pols...
Bush raking in all the fundraising moola will come in handy when all that LOCAL media buying is done by his campaign managers :-)

Have you or anyone else heard ONE black 'elected official' in congress say one thing about the killing in Africa...No, because Jessie, Al, Waters, Lee, etc. coddle people like Mugabe, Castro, etc.. Socialist/communist of a feather flock together don't ya know.

I get it! That is cute! It looks like a huge toadstool ;-)Sure makes a nice change from cherubs peeing ;-)lol

YES, I have noticed convention coverage. IMHO, real convention reporting died with David Brinkley (and I really think that he actually said UOx42 'was a boor, is a boor, and will always be a boor', not a 'bore' -- big difference)....;-)

Raven, you've been away awhile too: Welcome home!
Ahhh...but nobody missed me !!!

Wines and drinks have a high profit margin to them, and servers are encouraged to sell them. However, what happened was wrong and the manager/owner should be told. I would expect to be comped for the meal. If the manager doesn't make it right, take your business elsewhere.

John/Guennie: Don't restaurants, rightly or wrongly, also kinda look down upon 'early birds'? You know, stereotyping as poor tippers, fussy people, etc.???
I have noticed kinda snippy service if I go got the 'early bird' specials -- almost like they think you are there coz you are cheap...

On the way home from work today, a couple was selling corn out of the back of their truck. I bought 2 dozen ears for $5. They look good and I can't wait to have them tonight.

Don't restaurants, rightly or wrongly, also kinda look down upon 'early birds'? It may seem like that, but generally, the heavy hitters, both in front of house and back of house, don't come in early. Those are the servers and cooks that have the most experience and are the best at their jobs. The rookies tend to work at slower times, ie.. early dinner, lunch, and brunch.
Rookie cooks almost always wind up working brunches because the pros are hung over and sleeping in after the crush on Saturday night.
Never order fish Mon-Wed. Most fish orders arrive on Thursday, and the "special" on Monday is the left over fish that the chef is trying to get rid of. There are exceptions, but that's a good rule to follow.

Tis the season for corn. We had some fresh corn last night. I left it in the shucks, and oven roasted it. Mmmmmm.

I would give the manager one chance to make it right. Don't call during peak hours though. 2pm is a good time to call. Ask for the executive chef's office. Explain the situation, including that you may not ever come back unless they make it right. If it's a good restaurant, they will do what it takes to make you happy. I know that I certainly would. Reputation is everything in the service business.
