We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!
Good morning!!
Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
Hans Blix lashed out at the United States in an interview with the British paper Guardian. According to that paper, Mr Blix, who retires in three weeks' time, accused:
· The Bush administration of leaning on his inspectors to produce more damning language in their reports;
· "Some elements" of the Pentagon of being behind a smear campaign against him; and
· Washington of regarding the UN as an "alien power" which they hoped would sink into the East river.
[Well, at least with the last he would be right if Washington was a euphamism for the feelings of the American people.]
In Kantafordia, Arnold Schwarzenegger delivered a speech in which, despite saying he's not running for governor (at least not yet), nevertheless called for a "voter revolution."
And The Washington Times is reporting that Rehnquist, O'Connor, and Stevens will likely remain on the Supreme Court for another year, meaning a vacancy would be less likely.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

Oh, my. Things have gotten interesting (not a good thing) here. Prayers are requested for a lousy situation. Especially prayers for Trill and Bratling. Over and above travelling prayers for them while they are away.

I've been fighting Creeping Charlie tonite. I spent about an hour this morning,, and didn't get back to it until about 6:30 tonite. Tomorrow, I will go back and get the little pieces with Roundup. There's no other way to fight it.
It's been a couple of years since I gardened seriously due to health concerns. I may reinjure myself fighting Charlie. My right arm is quite sore from pulling and plucking. I scooted along the edge of the flower bed on my butt. I can't have my Grandchildren going to town and telling people about Granny crawling around, again!

I'm going off. Hope you all have a wonderful evening.
To: Iowa Granny
Is Creeping Charlie what is also known as GROUND IVY?

I hate this stuff. It gets in ,y flower beds, chokes out other plants if I don't pull it, and invades the lawn. You have to pull it by hand and use multiple Roundup applications in the lawn. Grrr!
To: Miss Marple
That's the stuff, and it's a real you-know-what to control.
I have met a gardener or three that swear by the borax method. I don't have any, so I can't give you a glowing reference - yet. See my post # 151
To: The Coopster
Thanks for that reference site. As I read the info, I'm fearful the Borox will kill my flowers, too??????? Have you used Borox in a flower bed, or only in lawns?
To: The Coopster
Well, I am willing to try anything, since your dad's Roundup method is like scorched earth. I am not very thrilled with large brown patches in the yard.
To: Iowa Granny
Only in Turf. For flower beds, your best bet is Roundup (provided you've got the space to use it safely), coupled with a regimen of Snapshot (Preen).
There is a chemical for broadleaf weeds in groundcovers called Lontrel. You can also try Surflan, but, always read your labels. And while I am on the groundcover subject, there's Fusillade for grassy weed control, as well.
You may or may not be able to get your hands on these chemicals without a commercial license. I don't know what the laws are in your state.
My motto for landscape management is "Better living through chemicals.....It drives my hippy friend Denise nuts (hee-hee!).
To: kayak
That situation has not changed. One family whose visa is in question was going to take a six week vacation out of country. They have decided not to leave. It is easier to renew in-country than out.
Keep praying.

My motto for landscape management is "Better living through chemicals.....After sitting in the grass yanking that stuff out, I would tend to agree with you.
There are 2 Commerical Applicator's lisences in the desk drawer, so I'm thinking we could buy the stuff if it gets to that. I am familiar with Roundup and understand how to use it. I use the 'farm strength',, it works faster, and is less expensive when purchased from a farm supplier rather than Wally World's stuff.
Thank you for those other recommendations. I will copy and paste that info to my garden stuff.
To: The Coopster
I went back and read your post. Do you think Preen will help to control Charlie once I've got the beds cleaned out? I thought Preen helps to prevent germination. Does Charlie spread by seed? It looks like it sends out these long leafy tendrils from a center, then the tendrils root and start another plant. (Am I describing this so you can understand what I'm telling you?)
Will Preen damage Hosta, Astilbe, Redtwig Dogwood, Daisy, Annebelle Hydrenga? I've got at least $1000 worth of plants along the North side of a big Morton Bldg (think Machine Shed,,, only it's a warehouse for seed).
I am ashamed to be asking you these questions. I have two CCA's living here.
