Excited and thrilled to answer PING! Fabulous Job, chicagolady!
I trust that everyone subscribes to the ATKINS NEWSLETTER? If not, sign-up at ATKINSCENTER.com.
On this holiday weekend, try not to cheat, but should anyone find that slice of pie or frosted cake too tempting to pass-by, then I recommend a "one day diet of pure water and five 2-oz. portions macadamia nuts spread throughout your waking hours," to jump-start the metabolism! Total calories 1000, so the added benefit is a quickie loss of at least one pound!
Macadamia nuts were Dr. Atkins's favorite food for curbing his appetite for sweets! (And, of course, he was right! Again, as always)!
My own concoction for my favorite dessert; --- tastes like lemon pie. Combine, (meaning whip, blend or mix) 1 - 8oz. pkg cream cheese with 1 - packet lemon flavored "crystal light."
Good luck every body!
God Bless our Veterans, our lost heroes, on this Memorial Day Weekend. And God Bless Dr. Atkins, our personal hero --- who'd often refer to macadamia nuts as "heavenly" --- well now he knows!

Glad to help. I have a similar tortilla waekness.
One warning. Those babies have SERIOUS fiber. 9 grams per small tortilla, I recall. If you are not used to a high fiber diet you might not want to eat too many at a single meal right off the bat.

Thanks for the input! I am reading a book called the Diet Cure.. She recommends low carb living. But She talks about folks who have a hard time digesting fat. I think I am one of those.. she describes the symptoms. So I just started taking "Lipase" that helps digest fat.(It is a larger dose that most "regular" folks would use.) If anyone wants info they can freep mail me!
One of my biggest trials on Atkins is that I am allergic to EGGS! The main staple! I love Eggs..but they do not love me! I can sqeak by if I have an eggs once a week or ever 2 weeks.

will keep me from losing weight They may, they may not. Different things will affect everyone differently. I stalled on soy products, others find that sugar substitues or dairy slow them down. Just pay attention and make adjustments. Keeping a journal helped correlate stalls with specific foods.

I remember being on the Atkins diet years ago. Some called it the drinking man's diet because you could have alcohol. One thing got me through the hunger for white looking creamy food and it is the egg salad made with cream cheese. I would eat it on lettuce leaves when I wanted to snack. Lunch meat roll ups with cheese in the middle and fixing a plate that looks nice helps too. I'll post the egg salad recipe if anyone wants it.

I was watching Fox news this morning, and they had the doctor (can't remember his name) on who answers viewers' questions. He talked about the Atkins diet, and made at least two false statements.
1. All of the saturated fat in the diet is bad - you're arteries will eventuall clog up. Well, it isn't all saturated fat. We eat a lot of fish, chicken, lean pork, and use olive oil and stay away from hydrogenated fats. And the artery clogging, I believe, is caused by factors other than consumptions of fats, other than trans-fats, which are not a good thing to consume. Stay away from vegetable shortening (in many baked goods) and margarines.
2. The diet avoids fruits and vegetables, which are needed for antioxidants, so you're risk of malignancies increases. I guess the good doctor hasn't read the book. We eat a ton of green leafy vegetables and other types of non-starchy veggies, fruits like tomatoes, blueberries, raspberries, melons. Don't these qualify as fruits and veggies? Blueberries in particular are high in antioxidants.
He also said that if you do go on this diet, you should go on a statin drug to control your cholesterol. He is a cardiologist, btw.

He is probably the type of guy who helped lower the "NORM" for cholesterol! So he could push the high priced AND DEADLY cholesterol Drugs! Nice guy!
Hope your day is going well, I am gonna go and try to get a little exercise..a slow paced bike ride.
