Clay did a wonderful job on "Bridge Over Troubled Waters."

His arrangements tend to be a bit faster tempo than I like, but I guess everything moves more slowly for me these days, so maybe I just don't feel the need for speed. ;)

Clay gave the best overall performance tonight, imo. (Ruben reminds me of a policeman I used to work with; Clay reminds me of my nephew. They're both cuddly.)

Ruben is a walking heart attack and I think that is what will perhaps cause him a loss. The schedule that involves the winner would probably hospitalize him.

It wasn't just ending the competition with that song, but ending it on that note. He knew he would hit it and that it would strike people. It's strategery.

I kinda did the same thing last year too. Told my wife that the perfect song for Kelly would be Nilsson's Without You.

Maybe I need to take Randy's job?

He was definitely the best tonight; and as I said, if he doesn't win, I still believe he'll be a bigger star in more areas than Ruben ever will be.

And don't forget: Josh will be the next Garth! ;)

I hate it when Clay dresses like that, with his shirt OUT.....he went to see the GOVERNOR like that (even though OUR governor is a CREEP, it reflect poorly on him, IMO!)

What a FINISH! Paul Anka with his rewrite! Whoa, now if Clay could sing like that ;)

At least they won't be doing a BEACH movie any time soon.

Ruben said he has a CD coming out with Tamyra Grey.

He's sweet but he just doesn't seem to have any 'there' there.

Those seem to be two great guys. They are both very likeable. I think they will both do very well. They are certainly a refreshing change from most of the junk out there in the music world today.

I wonder who paces these arrangements? I halfway think that they brighten them up to keep the MTV-ers interested. OTOH, it shows their capabilities...

I'm sure a contemporary Christian album from Clay would be a big hit-- he could be like Amy Grant.

I think Clay learned quite a bit from last week. He sang Unchained Melody well, but not quite as well as he could have because he tried too hard to make every note, every phrase stand out, which resulted in it sounding over the top, forced, and made too few parts stand out, including an incredible high note he hit; it just blended into the whole, like a sentence where ev er y sy la ble is em pha sized.

He did Bridge much better. He let some parts glide, but smoothly, and that let the emphasized lines and cresendos really stand apart.

Reuben did well tonight, but he should not have left that song for last. He should have gotten that one out of the way early.

I think Clay takes it.

Besides having a gorgeous voice, Clay has loads of personality....wholesome, impish, good sport, and willing to put the whole thing in God's hands. Like Bush he does have a life besides the show. I really like HIM as well as his voice.
