Our Texas Locale page recently got very busy on the unusual topic of Ouija boards and such. Archy suggested a Lone Star Thread That Will Not Die. Like those darn Hobbit threads with 30,000+ posts.
This is not my thread and I'm not going to baby sit it every day. I just gathered the kindling and y'all have to start the fire.
TOPICS: Chit/Chat

Yes, Texas has an official State question.....it is:
"How long will it take you to get your @ss back to New Mexico?"......... lol
To: Tijeras_Slim
Red or Green is a great State question! lol...... I like mine Green, thanks.......
To: Wneighbor
My lil' girlfriend can shoot a hand canon too!! She was 11 years old and already shooting a .40s&w Glock. Modified Weaver stance came naturally to her.

My daughter loves those Beanie Burgers. That's the place she likes. Is Casa Manana that place downtown? I went to one with a red taco. That was confusing. I grew up in south Texas. We didn't have those there. I found a place where I really like some of the food but - the weirdest thing - they put mustard in their salsa. That was off the wall. I haven't really found anyplace here that I really can't wait to go eat. Most of the food here is more like what I've had in the midwest. But, everytime I mention that it gets pointed out to me that with the AFB here - there are more people from the midwest than from Texas. ewwww...
so, I'm asking the question again.... why is a Texas girl in PA? Why don't you come on back here and hang out and then I'd know at least one right minded person in town.

It has been over 20 years since I lived in WF...... and yes Casa Manana is the place downtown and I've never had red tacos anywhere except there.........lol
I'm going to have to think to find some great places for you....... how about Bar L? It is a dive downtown across the street from the library..... great ribs......
Wow, I'm trying to think of some places...lol...... and I've never heard that flimsy excuse for why the food is turning Midwest..... what a lame thing for them to say.......
What took you to WF? What part of town do you live in?
To: Eaker
Excellent! My kid really misses living in the country. She was born and lived out in the boonies till she was 16. (she's 17 now) Went to a little 2A school. It was not unheard of still for a guy to come to school with a gun in his gunrack to go hunting after school. Of course there were 'discussions' occasionally about this but no one really saw the harm. We were 8 1/2 miles out of town so target practice is just one of those things you do for entertainment. So, you can take care of the occastional reptile or whatever.
First thing when we moved to WF she was terrified when she saw this big 5A school. (got over that after 2 days) But, it was very much a culture change for her. Kids here are much more PC. She would talk about hunting - classmates would jump all over her for 1) gun issues 2) animal rights issues. But! They didn't know WHO they had to contend with. She was in journalism at school and informed and articulate enough to start a one person campaign to educate her peers. Of course in a big place like this she can't know and talk to everyone like at home - but, she's done a fair job of getting our message out. She's made several converts from the dark side on a lot of issues. It pays for us to raise 'em this way. I've seen it in my oldest daughter and I'm seeing it in my baby.

I got a job offer that sounded like something I ought to try. One of those God things that you ought to not pass up.
Okay, do you come back here often? I live near Sam's, Lowes and the south WalMart.

My Mother lives out at Lake Arrowhead - and no we don't come often. We lived in Sweetwater and used to drive to WF about every 5 or 6 weeks......I grew up near where you live..... near CallField Road and McNiel....... the Walmart/Sams area was just an open field, as was KMart....... the mall was being built, then they went bankrupt and the shell of the building just taunted us all for a couple of years..... we wanted a mall....everything was all the way downtown.....no shopping near us except for Parker Square and it was about half the size it is now........ It still isn't much of a mall considering the size of the city, don't you think?
To: Wneighbor
Oh I have a 17 year old daughter too! Is your daughter at Rider (my old HS) or Wichita High?
To: Flyer
okay, no fair. You can't give my photo a shiner bock without giving me one, too.
To: ValerieUSA; Flyer
Flyer has sent me several Shiner Bocks via email. He sends them as attachments. Be careful next time you check your mail as you might spill it!!!

This is great having our own Texas chat thread!
I need some advice from my fellow Texans on where to stay this summer around Port Aransas. I haven't been there since I was a kid. Anybody been there lately?

A surreal topic to say the least. :-)
Did you make sure everyone had matches to play with?
