ZOT! Free Republic Sucks?

Posted on 05/02/2003 6:37:21 AM PDT by fisherspats

Are People banned from this site? Are opposing views not welcomed? Why, YES.....Over the past 5-6 years I have had to change my log-in several times..Due to a "Banning". I have received over 132 e-mails from "Freepers" that were also banned. I enjoy reading most of the postings...I start my morning on this site. But I have learned not to reply or post any opposing views...until now. I'm sure this posting will vanish and once again I will be "banned". Until another screen name my friends.

Is your screen name an anagram of your former banned names? If you, you might be:

spits_afresh
faster_ships
parish_fests
fathers_piss
reships_fast

Oops, now I might get banned.

Just being,

If you back up your statements with reason and facts, JimRob will let you stay. You can even argue that W. is an alien. Just back it up with reason and facts. But if all you can do is gripe about how evil everyone is and unfair everything is, U R outta here.

What were states allowed to do prior to Lincoln's War?

What states were allowed to do would take too long to answer. But here is what one man was allowed to do:

"Continually puling about liberty, equality, and the degrading curse of slavery, he [Thomas Jefferson] brought his own children to the hammer . . . "

Abraham Lincoln, my party's first president, said the above, in 1844, concerning the first president from the other major party. Of course, Lincoln could have been exaggerating. It may only have been Jefferson's in laws and cousins by common law marriage whom he brought to the hammer.

If being a conservative means siding with slave state hotheads against the fellows in Fort Sumter, I'm going back to being a liberal.

IF more people believe as you do than not...that war must be re-fought. It will be...IF more people believe as you do than not...It will be INEVITABLE.

Maelstrom, here are a few words from an Asian fellow who shares some of your war aims and thus seems, to me, a natural ally:

We predict a black day for America and the end of the United States as United States, and will be separate states

So, you got 132 emails from others banned. Free Republic is generally very anonymous. How did they get your email AFTER your screen names were banned?
Your post lacks veracity.

Probably bragging on DU about getting banned on FR.

The last response will probably be yanked.

To put it more clearly.

You have absolutely no idea what I was talking about. You have absolutely no idea how much I abhor the implications of Walt's posts concerning the War of Northern Agression. You have absolutely no idea of the consequences of those implications or you could *not* have suggested that I ally with a terrorist.

You sir...are the lowest form of scum.

I once knew a guy who always had hog manure on his boots, when he came to my house, I put up with it a couple of times, I got tired of the house smelling like a hog farm, I started asking him to leave, finally I asked him not to come back.

Maybe you should clean the pig manure off your shoes.

You have absolutely no idea what I was talking about. You have absolutely no idea how much I abhor the implications of Walt's posts concerning the War of Northern Agression.

The implication of my posts is that the neo-confederates today offer an interpretation based on fantasy, not history.

The founding fathers had absolutely no doubt that they were establishing a permanent federal Union. Neo-confederates want to suggest that unilateral state secession was legal when it as nothing but revolution --revolution against a governnment that southerners had a large part in creating and one which they had controlled for decades prior to the Civil War.

Neo-confederates love getting a tear in their beer over the sacrifice of rebel soldiers when the record shows that the rebel armies melted away from desertion. Rebel armies depended much on conscription. Rebel armies didn't have nearly the success as commonly thought. The insurgent armies had not ONE major success outside Virginia THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE WAR, excepting Chickamauga. Grant's army (later commanded by Sherman) advanced from Forts Henry and Donelson, through Nashville, took Vicksburg, moved across Tennnessee, into Georgia and through the Carolinas and except for Chickamauga met success everywhere.

Even the great hero Lee had as little success outside Virginia, as deposed Union Generals Pope, Hooker and Burnside had within it. Lee's reputation hangs on one battle, Chancellorsville. His army had more casualties every day of the Seven Days' battle than McClellan's did. He narrowly avoided defeat at Antietam, in a campaign that was ill-considered. He wrecked his own army for offensive operations at Gettysburg in another ill-considered raid. He's way over-rated.

The war was caused by slavery -- by rebels willing to overthrow the government rather than see their peculiar institution be bridled in any way.

These are the facts of the matter, and you don't much like them. I can't help that.

I didn't post anything to you to start this.

I'd suggest that you just let it go.

Walt

Great post.

Thanks.

The neo-confederate position can only be accepted if one doesn't know the history, and they pretty much bitterly resent the true record coming out.
