AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 828) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | April 28, 2003 | All of Us

Posted on 04/28/2003 4:16:10 AM PDT by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!

Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

Ten Iraqis have filed a complaint in a Belgian court accusing Gen. Franks of war crimes in Iraq. Belgium has a law that allows their courts to try war crimes committed by anyone anywhere in the world - "universal jurisdiction" as it is called by some. The United States is warning Belgium if the case is taken up it will have serious diplomatic repercussions.

Heard much from the Hollywild left lately? Probably not. Most of the anti-war stars have decided to beat a solid retreat in the face of a lightning quick war with broad support across the country.

The Unitd States is considering moving its main mid-east air command center from Saudi Arabia to Qatar.

And today is, or was, Saddam's birthday.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

,Why don't you check with Dick Cheney and see if he can help you out

He keeps calling, but I don't have time to answer him with the schedule I'm keeping. ;>)

Bart wasn't able to remove the bone spicule (as he called it). Not even with a knee on my chest and slipping with some torture device that jammed into the roof of my mouth. He did grind it down with a chain saw or something, and gave me a wonderful scrip that makes me think my ottoman really does like me after all. ;>)

Where I have a problem about felons having their rights restored is in the fact that few of them really serve the full sentence. All this junk about "fair sentencing" that shortens sentences really bothers me. Just exactly to whom is this supposed to be fair ..... certainly not the public against whom the crime has been committed! There are too many people let out of prison who should stay there longer, IMO. (I guess my gripe is really with the criminal justice system, particularly liberal judges ..... all too often the criminal has more rights than the victim, whether that be an individual or society in general.)

Also, if someone is in prison for committing a violent crime and there is no evidence of rehabilitation in his life, should he be allowed firearms when he is released, having served his sentence?

On the other hand, not to restore full rights seems to indicate continued guilt once the price has been paid.

I suppose what I am saying is that I agree with you both in principle but am too aware of how often the justice system is twisted so I have some problems in a practical sense. I do not think that misdemeanors should result in the losing of rights ..... if something is that serious, it should be classified as a felony to begin with.

Calling someone ignorant and calling their provably false statements ignorant isn't the same thing, is it? If anyone thought I meant Miss Marple was ignorant, I sincerely apologize. If someone wants to back that statement up with some facts, I'd be interested to see how it goes.

I'm cringing just reading about it ..... yikes! Does that mean that you'll keep on having to deal with it in the future as more of it works its way out? Or what? I've never heard of such a thing. And hope I never find out more first hand.

Wish the bratling a Happy Birthday from me if you can drag yourself away from the ottoman ...... :-)

Do you really have to ask that question??? You purposely tried to embarass someone, instead of trying to educate someone....Who gives a hoot about what you think about jazz??? It may all just so much blather, in the grand scheme of things...

Well, hopefully, if your son still shares a birthday with Saddam, it won't be for much longer ..... ;-)

I'll make the apology now for being so forward. I am just so tired of snobbery.

...But I'll leave a question before I go:

If many people can be a Senator, but only a tiny fraction can be a surgeon, then what is a surgeon doing trying to craft law, when his talents are needed elsewhere, if his skills are so extraordinary?????

I'm sorry, Bit. I'm sure you're ticked at me. If you read my post 89, it really was my attempt to educate. Heck, I don't like snobbery either and if I'd realized I was coming across that way, I would have changed the way I said it.

There aren't that many things I know much about and I'm no expert in this one either. But even the little I know I thought was enough to point out a difference that is often skipped over.

I am just so tired of snobbery.

It all traces back to when you were a youngling and couldn't open a bottle of Cotes du Rhone. Wuss. ;>)

Prayers for your next few days. I've been in the woods thinking wistful thoughts of ATRW. God bless your endeavour. You are loved even if the collective "we" is cranky.

God Bless the peacemakers. (and make my peacemaker faster than his).

Did you mean "God bless the pacemakers"? I may need one soon.

No, I am notmad at you...It's just that I thought that when you encountered someone obviously not conversant on your level about a subject, you would try to let people know why you thought your worldview meant something...while it may be technical 'ignorance', I would bet there are 1,000 things you have not been exposed to....How would YOU like being labeled as 'ignorant' to any number of subjects?

Does that mean that you'll keep on having to deal with it in the future as more of it works its way out?

Yes. Eventually, a free-floating bone spicule will divest itself from my inner jaw and work it's way through the flesh of my mouth to be plucked out by an observant and strong dentist, named Bart. Until then, my life is going to be somewhat circumscribed, waiting on the great event. Ouch doesn't begin to cover it. But it's only physical pain. I can live with that. (Thank You, Jesus)
