Why is it also that "Women's Magazines" have arguably the most Femi-Nazi verbage around and yet aside from that all they do is create unrealistic expectations for most women and pound them over the head incessantly about how to look your best to GET THAT MAN...or MAKE THE MAN IN YOUR LIFE HAPPY.
Schizophrenia.

Agreed.

This sets a bad precedent. Next thing you know, Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon and Michael Moore will think that posing nude will boost their now-flagging careers as well.
Guh...there's a visual I did *NOT* need!!

Photoshop is our friend. That's NOT Maines' body.
Their manager is either an idiot or a closet conservative. I don't see how showing other women's bodies is going to help their CD sales.
Plus isn't 'brave' and 'hero' a little overboard?

Yes. In fact, Chunk Chick's head looks too big for the "stunt body" that was used...

I could care less whether I ever see them again or not. I would prefer they just fade away.
This latest PR stunt following the Drooling Diane interview is being carefully orchestrated by some heavy hitters beyond their management. They are hot media and their keepers would like to see some more returns. They are going to pull out all the stops.
This stuff is designed to appeal to their base (pre-teen and teen girls)....I know that sounds crazy but it is. It's chock full of metaphors. A bit of defiance, hubris, "we stand naked before you", we're the "victims" here etc.
I doubt it will do much for older regular country listeners...in fact it will further alienate them but it will shore up the base.
It should also tell all of us that they indeed feel they were right, are not contrite, and chose a genre of music to make a buck even though underneath it all, they have copious amounts of derision for the folks who make up the bulk of country music fanbase.
They are posuers and music row hype....and as usual, the media will love them for this. The media does not like country music's fanbase either.

Yes, I'm sure this will be just the thing to rehabilitate their image with their quite conservative fan base.

its the same nude body on each chix. One body, three heads, one mouth, and all brain cell free.
To: webstersII
I disagree, they mourn the deaths of our enemies which caused them to attack their leader and now they send a message written upon their flesh. Their acts are an abomination.
To: wardaddy
the cover was planned in advance.
The nude shot was planned in advance (they used the same nude body model on each chix head)
You are absolutly right about this being managed. The abc interview and this cover expose how big media manipulates in order to generate PR. I hope all this effort results in continued declining/zero cd sales.
To: HuntsvilleTxVeteran
Amazing. I at least expected manslaughter or negligent homicide.
To: longtermmemmory
I hope it fails too.
I get the "we're victims here" feeling mostly from this stunt.
It will not work with Country's base but it may keep their diehard "young girl" bloc's attention. Young bleary eyed girls love "victims". I know my two sure do...they are all bleary eyed idealism and 100% emotive.
The stunts of the past week are way beyond the string pulling of their Lindsley Ave. manager.
I hope it fails. I hope they become just another netherland act stuck between pop and country that is relegated to playing small venues and selling 50K records at most.
They are fake and they betrayed those who put them where they are and have yet to show any real remorse other than panicking over their fall from grace.
Anyone could have seen this coming from way back...it was a shotgun marriage from the getgo between them and country music...
Their acerbic nature has not made them many friends amongst other more conventional country artists....that was their biggest mistake...plus Gnat makes it too easy to dislike her. Something bratty combined with that wild eyed look...a lot of men know that look...it means trouble.
