AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 823) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | April 23, 2003 | All of Us

Posted on 04/23/2003 4:41:32 AM PDT by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!

Good Morning!!

The State Department is issuing a travel advisory for Ontario relating to the SARS virus.

California may run out of cash in a few weeks; their solution will be to pay vendors and others with IOUs.

Gay rights groups are upset that Sen. Santorum compared homosexuality to bigamy, polygamy, incest, and adultery.

And Hans Blix says the United States lacks credibility in its efforts to find Iraq's banned weaponry. He warned the UN Security Council that only the UN, not the US, could provide an objective assessment of anything found in Iraq. He further accused the United States and Britain in deliberately undermining his efforts before the war.

Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who gave their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

Think I shall depart the ole keyboard and watch the tube for a spell, get mad at CNNfn, embark upon calling the a foul word or two and see what all is going on. It is an honor to be to able to talk to you via keyboard and, all you other fine folks spread across this nation. See ya latter and good night.

Jemian,

You didn't kill it, I'm here, I've just been catching up all the whole day's posts. I love reading your posts, and I've tucked away your bible reading selections, for when I need them!

GC, I'm a green tea lover, however I do drink it mostly cold. Do you like iced tea? I'm not much of a soda drinker, and I've been buying the Arizona green tea in the big containers, at the grocery for a couple of years.

Jane, you will have mail presently.

It was a glorious spring day here today, and my first chance on the golf course in quite a while. It took me quite a while to figure out the game again, but by the 15th hole I finally got my muscle memory back. Golf, the game that beats you up, but always keeps you coming back for more.......

Tell JT he's following in Uncle Mulliner's footsteps. I had a game where we scored 57 points and I had 30 of them. That was my first year in college, but we were in a church league in Bellingham, WA.

Just finished my 3rd day of orientation. I stayed there last night so am back for the first time in 2 days. Going 3 days away will be quite a challenge.

The training has been pretting good. I can see that there are two types of people who work there. Military types love the disciplined atmosphere and outdoors environment, but may not have much to offer the kids therapeutically or educationally and they tend to yell like army sargents.

Then there are those who really love and care for the students, but aren't used to the military style and all the hardships of camping out in fairly primitive conditions. I guess I fall into this category.

Hope all is going well around here.

Mr. Chair, I haven't followed the news and FR of late, but here's my take on the Santorum thing. Perhaps I'm just repeating what's obvious and already said.

It comes to mind that this Texas case has the potential -- potential -- to be the Roe v. Wade end-run we've been hoping, praying for. If the courts refuse to overturn legitimate state law for imagined "privacy rights," what does that say for the "privacy rights" of a mother of an unborn? The tendency for this court is States rights.

How ironic if the demands of homosexuals leads to the demise of Roe & "reproductive rights"! (Need I point out that homosexual sex does not lead to procreation?) It's almost too tempting to even think about, like hoping in May that your team will make the Series.

You will love this one.....it seems the French press got itself in a real panic when Powell mentioned in an interview they would be punished..

It seems they thought we would declare war on them...

For a "limited" time, I've put it on my webserver.

What Radix just said about lifting that picture reminded me that I've got a picture saved for you, something that you had wanted to save but weren't sure where to save it to.

Here it is, if I remember correctly. Do you still want me to save it?

Hey, Mr. M. How goes things? I saw your post about your couselling position. 2 things. DeepWoods Off(tm) and remove the cardboard tube from premium TP rolls so you can pack more in the rucksack. Field encampments are notorious for 80 grit TP. ;>)

Oh, and you need more socks. Regardless of how many you have. There is a psychological/physiological thingamabob with being able to change into clean socks. I try to change socks 3 times a day under rustic conditions. That's 21 pairs of socks for a week. ;>)

You're right about the socks. Changing into fresh socks feels so much better in those conditions than it does at home. I recently bought 9 pairs of socks at a flea market and wondered why. Now I know.

I used to love to go to the big 3-story REI store in Seattle. I would dearly love a paid shopping trip there now because I have very few things that I'll be needing or that will make life livable. The good thing is that it's summer so all the warm clothing can wait a while. But the bad thing is, it's summer and will soon be stiflingly hot.

I've read a lot of emigrant's guides to the western US. (including the one the Donner party used, I quoted it in my sourdough paper, actually).

The pioneers were somewhat more hardy than modern Americans in some respects, but they appreciated their creature comforts, too. A damp bandana draped across the neck helps to cool the body and is very inexpensive. An unglazed terra-cotta jug kept in the shade keeps water cool by evaporation.

I love the stuff at REI, but there are lots of field expedient options that don't cost much.

Tell me what you want and I'll see if I can find an expedient.
