Thank you sir. I remember well the Maines Brothers Band. Too many weekend nights at the old "Coldwater Country" at South University and Loop 289. Have only been back to Lubbock 3 times since 1981 when I graduated from Tech. Lots of fond memories.

Yes, her father was the steel guitar player for the band and is currently a record producer.Lloyd Maines? He's terrific. Not only a great producer, but a wonderful session guitarist as well. I've also seen him hit the road and play bar gigs with his artists. Hope he doesn't share his daughter's vapid left-wing political views.

This is all we get? I guess that I'm going to have to give somebody a piece of my mind Sunday morning at church about a more permanent boycott.
BTW, my solution as well, was to play "Have you Forgotten" as a dedication to the Chicks every time their name came around to be played.

Did you sign up just to tell the Chicks you are unhappy?
BTW, my spanish speaking comrade, I think we both had a few of the details about the Maines wrong. I think that MN has the details correct.

I walked back into the room while the radio was on (must have walked out during some post-1985 country music I'm having to listen to now), and I thought I heard the tail end of the DJ saying something about someone (media) wanting to do a story on the Dixie Chick's "hometown" not even wanting to play their songs anymore. Ping me if you hear or see anything--you might ask you-know-who on Sunday.

I have been watching the site for months, thinking I had very little to contribute. When this thread came up, I knew I could provide some factual information. Perhaps I will have some profound thoughts in the future!

Welcome, MN-Rightside, from a fellow PRM transplant! It's wonderful, at the end of a long day of dealing with mindless Minnesoslow liberals, to communicate with intelligent, right-thinking Freepers. Hallelujah.

Hey, folks ! I posted an article this morning and now playing "Ketchup" on comments to me now.
Here it is AND a link to Worley's new song also. The "Have You Fogotten" link goes to Darryl Worley's website and you can download the Windows Media Player or Real Audio version linked there.
Ya'll might enjoy the article. I posted THREE for the price of one on that thread, btw . . .
Some Texas stations drop Dixie Chicks tunes

Welcome to Free Republic. We're happy to have you here.

The Mr. just let me know that Midland's country stations are banning them as well...the local Encore station is not even going to play requests for them!

I stole the pic and your comment and sent it to an e-mail friend...
