A friend just called and told me this. I guess West Texas has voted and chosen George W. Bush over Natalie Maines as it's most popular West Texan famous person! Friend says Most callers are anti-chicks and are requesting repeated playings of "Have you Forgotten" and Lee Greenwood's "Proud to be an American".

I love it when celebrities speak and the market replies. Maybe musicians should stick to making music?

I'm sure that she will consider it censorship or a "blacklist" because the whole country doesn't agree with her statements.

She has the freedom of speech, but so do we! Her opinions STINK! Especially since president Bush has done nothing but try diplomacy so far. She can take a flying leap.

Any Luboock freepers that can answer this question.....Is Natalie Maines the daughter of one of the Maines Brothers? "The Maines Brothers" was a local country band that was very popular in the Lubbock area in the 70's and 80's. Those guys were good enough to make it big in Nashville, but decided to stay in Lubbock and raise their familes.

Heck, FreeTally's already essentially making that argument on another thread... says we're all shakedown artists like Jesse Jackson.

Yes, her father was the steel guitar player for the band and is currently a record producer. Her uncle is a county commissioner and his wife was a newscaster now in public relations. So yes, she inherited the Maines musical talent
