What Was the Point of Tonight's Press Conference
Posted on 03/06/2003 5:14:51 PM PST by ChicagoRepublican
What was the point of tonight's press conference. Bush said nothing new. We're still in the final stages of discovery. Nothing about developments against Al Qaeda was mentioned. I like Bush, but why the hell did he just waste the American people's time.

Maybe he was sending coded messages to our spies overseas.

This is his assurance to everyone watching that we are in the end stages of this very tiresome dance that's been going on at the UN. Get ready.
I don't think that Freepers need this assurance, but some do.

80% of the population doesn't follow the news like the average Freeper. This is for the soccer mom's in Peoria and our allies around the world...

The American Public doesn't spend hours on FR like we do !

Usually if there's something big to announce, it leaks before hand.

Right you are CheezyD: give Bush a chance, it's still on live here in Washington. Unless Chicago Republicans are really Raelians.....
To: ChicagoRepublican
This is to say to reporters that he has answered their questions before we go into Iraq.

He hasn't had a news conference since November, so it was about time. And he's answering questions RIGHT NOW. So your assertion that he's said nothing new is premature. It ain't over till it's over.
To: CheezyD
The seriousness of his tone and what he is saying means that war is within a week. SIMPLE!
No one can say they were surprised.

The American public watched the State of the Union Address. The American public knows Bush has been calling Iraq a threat for a while now, yet for some reason we are still crawling our way to a solution. This speech doesn't reassure the general public, it just tells them they're gonna have to wait for their safety to be secured.

You are correct!
To: CheneyChick
The reason for it.

Bingo. He is still trying to reach those who, besides not knowing who our VP is, are also sitting on the fence and it's one of the last few attempts to pull those folks into the light.
