One of my daughter's is named Sara. She was named after my husband's mother.
The other kids are named after saints. AND, none of our kids have names that can be shortened. With a long last name it was better to give them one or two syllable names to go with a three syllable last name.

Jesus (spelled "Jesus", pronounced HAY-zeus) is a very common Mexican name for boys. It is not considered any more disrespectful than naming your daughter Maria (Mary). Although I wonder if the "Chastity, Faith, Charity" effect applies to these boys. (see post #64)

< P>The French often name their kids after saints of particular significance to the parents and boys may well be named Marie and girls Denise thouge the girls get a feminine ending on the name whereas there may be no masculine ending for a female saint's name.
Also I have known a Canadian and a Frenchman named St. Marie.

Speaking of Rays, I once worked with a woman whose first cousin, Sandy Mae Ray, married a Danny Hay so her name became Sandy Mae Ray Hay.

"Madison" just screams of herd mentality. The name surely means "my parents are sheeple".

Jihad Valentine?
How long is it before someone names their kid "Jyhad?" At that point, I think the fate of Western Civilization will be sealed.

Bite your tongue Mister! "hook 'em" is for the university of Texas, not MY university...... (I know you knew that already and were just trying to get me in a tizzy.......)

I was at Sam's Club and one of the checkout girls (I swear by all I hold dear) was wearing a nametag that read "Toshiba".

One of the names was pronounced "SHA-THEED" but spelled, according to the magazine, "SHITHEAD" I had a boss who told me he had a classmate[black dude] who had that name.
