The Bush administration will disclose new information to the United Nations today on Iraq's mobile biological weapons facilities, as well as evidence linking Baghdad to the al Qaeda terrorist group, U.S. officials said.
The intelligence will be provided to the world body by Secretary of State Colin L. Powell as part of the administration's effort to win support for military action to disarm Iraq of its chemical, biological and nuclear weapons.

And the Dems wonder why they keep losing:
"Democrats on retreat in Pennsylvania late last week came back grumbling that President Bill Clinton didn't give them their money's worth. Of course, he was working for free, so what did they expect?" the anonymous Prowler writes at www.americanprowler.org.
" 'It was all about him. His administration, what he did, would have done,' says an attendee. 'It's nothing we haven't heard before, it's just that there wasn't much constructive about it.'
"To be fair, Clinton did lay down some markers for the current legislative session and the 2004 campaign season, but those markers must seem pretty familiar to a Democratic caucus that has been wandering around in circles for the last couple of election cycles.
"Clinton pressed his Democratic brethren not be bullied by Republicans who have impugned his party's patriotism. The ex-prez told the audience, which according to attendees hung on his every word, to hit back, not to take such charges lightly.
"Any additional guidance was built on the classic class warfare rhetoric of Democratic races past. 'It was all about the Bush tax cuts and how everything we should be debating, all the issues we as Democrats should be forcing, flow out of those tax cuts for the rich,' says the attendee. 'He's right. Social Security, health care reform, balanced budgets, education, all those issues that we care about are in play. But we're too defensive.'
"Clinton was said to be at his best, speaking without notes, flitting about from subject to subject, [A little hopped up on something, maybe, or just the sign of a disorganized mind?] deftly tying up loose ends and extraneous ideas.
" 'It was great to see him on top of his game,' says the attendee, no longer as upset as he initially seemed. Clinton can evidently still wow them." WashTimes

Good morning! I'm mighty proud of our president this morning...handing the child his hanky made my whole day. Did you see that? Handed him his hanky, then when the little one was done, he stuffed it back in his pocket.
I told my husband it was a glimpse into the true heart of this man...the most basic human kindness that just cannot be faked.
Boy do I miss Clinton...NOT!

You're right about that little handkerchief incident, and even CNN observed that it was one of the most poignant moments of the hour. The thing to note is that it was unselfconscious, unorchestrated, unscripted. (Refraining from pointing out obvious distinctions between current president and his immediate successor or, for that matter, the man he defeated).

Thanks for the photo. Indeed, our President is no faker.
What a day! DH is taking daughter #2 to the Dr., she has an ear infection. Daughter #1 is in bed with a fever of 102. I am praying everyone else stays healthy, our schools have been a swill of illness lately.
I can't wait to see Powell make our enemies squirm. I am wondering what lame excuses they'll try to use to avoid the obvious.

.. the Native Canadian Inuit tribes can no longer make a living trapping fur so they've turned to oil & gas development in formerly pristine wildernesses. Well, let's all help them out by buying new fur coats and turning up the heat.

I am watching Powell in a Honey-Free-Zone.
This is an excellent presentation of what Saddam is doing to necessitate war. Thank God for President Bush choosing Colin Powell. A swift oar to the face of Nelson Mandella for calling Bush a racist who has no respect for black men. A swift oar to the gut of Nelson Mandella for showing disrespect to Colin Powell.
A little UN Fashion Hint.... Make those ear translation pieces in a dark brown. With them being white is looks like all those Ambassadors have had their ears bandaged from a boxing match.

Colin Powell just showed video of an F-15 in Iraq spraying a chemical to mimic anthrax over the ground. It was a practice run. They are going to use chemical weapons and biological warfare. It's an evil beyond measure. I can't fathom how any pilot could spray those chemicals unless he was the devil himself.

It seems everyone wanted to define what Colin Powell was, without bothering to find out from the man himself. The far right were convinced he was a liberal plant; the left called him a house (n-word). Quelle surprise (again) - GWB knew what he was doing.
He's clearly laying out the evidence, and citing the UN resolutions Iraq even admits to violating (missiles with capability violating 150 km range limit), for example, but all the facts in the world won't convince some people. Can't wait to see what the Congressional Dems do with this.
To: Hillary's Lovely Legs
The case is made. Those that believed will still believe, and those that didn't, still won't.
Time to shower off this briefing.
Let's Roll.

I want to get some big screens, the kind that the use in drive-in movies, and set them all around Susan Sarandon's home. Then I want to play Colin's presentation 24 hours a day.
" What has Iraq done to us?".... Hey Susan..."What is Iraq doing to it's own people!?

While he's discussing biological weapons like Ricin, I hope he mentions that France ignored the terrorists in Paris who were working on it before they headed to London, where they were arrested and traces of the toxin were discovered. It's no wonder France won't support us, they're too busy harboring Al Qaeda terrorists.
To: Hillary's Lovely Legs; lodwick
Powell's laying out the Iraq-Al Qaeda relationship now. Says Iraqi Embassy in Pakistan was "liaison" with Al Qooky. A senior Al Q operative said his group got chemical weapons from Iraq. "None of this should come as a surprise to any of us," Powell said, before calling Iraq a liar. (huzzah)
I like your tagline, Lod.
The latest Rhodes scholar is one of Hillary's interns. Hmmm. story here
