if you get my drift! Yes...that was me last winter. It's a good thing to do if there are storm clouds coming.
I've had a lot more luck with getting small-scale contracts than with actual jobs. Budgets are tight everywhere, and people are more willing to spend to hire someone to do a specific project or task (pay is even better), than committing to an employee for the long-term. I dunno...maybe I'm stumbling (and bumbling) onto something here.

The best jobs I have had started out as temp contracts... All kinds of businesses need databases, and I have backed into a lot of places to do a short term database project and ended up staying on.
