The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

That, folks was the the last FINISHED chapter. I have two more to go, but both are incomplete, and I have this distinct feeling it is starting to get out of hand. Nevertheless, I will try to finish it over the weekend.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR LETTING ME POST. And it is good to know there are other writers here...I keep telling my husband that the only way to write is to be with other writers...not having anything to offer tends to be a motivating thing!

Tig!

Yes it's going to be fictional as I have a main character and developed a history for him. He's a member of the court of King Charles II. even though my character is Catholic (a nono in England at that time). i'm trying to write of his first years in ST.Mary's City. On the Eastern Shore.

That was fabulous, Alkhin. I was actually annoyed by the phone here at work while I was trying to read what you wrote. Excellent job!

Got my "wish." They had to close for "Lee-Jackson Day."

I was thinking about you while doing housework this morning and wondering. I think you're having a wonderful holiday.

Entertainment Weekly Talks Oscar
1/17/03, 2:19 pm EST - Xoanon

Entertainment Weekly has posted their Oscar predictions, TTT is listed as the front runner for a few categories including Best Picture and Best Director. [More]

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The above [more] link goes to several pages of story about the likely nominations this year... Ent. Weekly thinks many nominations for TTT are a certainty, and also said this nice thing:
"As for THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS, it's gotten better reviews and done bigger business than the first, which landed 13 nods, so where's the love? While some voters may feel director Peter Jackson got his due last year, enough should be willing to reward his sustained achievement to put ''Towers'' in contention (otherwise, how will they give ''The Return of the King'' the big prize next year?)."
I should be arrested for my thoughts
I know that thought. I went through it earlier this week. Something about drunken elves at Sam Cree's house. And I was going to ........
RE: Tag line - Happy Hobbit lass pining for Sam Gamgee.
Remember I told you I used to work with a guy who sounded like Astin? Well, after listening to the DVD interview and commentaries, the 2 could be vocal twins. There is even a little resemblance between the 2. Except, the guy I know isn't quite into safety that way. He's an electrical engineer and our Friday afternoons used to be spent finding out just how many ways we could let the smoke out of used and abused stuff in his office.
I'm so sorry about your Grandfather DT. I just now got to that point in the thread. Even when they've been ill for some time it's really hard still. We all love you and are praying for you and your family. *tears here*
I still think I'm going to have to get him to surprise you with a phone call one of these days. Just trying to figure out how to explain that one. Hey, you gotta call this lady I know. Yeah, she's over in Florida. I know her from the Hobbit Hole. .....
And he's known me enough years to take all that completely in stride.
So sorry to hear about your grandfather. Prayers and thoughts are with you.
Others of us here have lost loved ones in the past months. This is a good place to be.
Peace.
It's cool because you see "before and after" pics
I had to laugh at David Wenham's picture. I sure like his looks better as Faramir! Kind of like the Viggo/Aragorn thing!
Viggo is a great photographer
I wonder if he'll create and sell a book of his photos from the shoot of the three movies. I'd LOVE to have a copy of that!
