The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Brego was one of the Kings of the Mark. He built Meduseld and on the night they were celebrating it's completion, his son, Baldor, boasted that he was going to tread the Paths of the Dead. He never came out and that's the body that The Grey Company found when they were passing through, while the Dead followed.

Brego died of grief over the loss of his son.

I'm taking notes on what to watch for when I go see it again... and I think I should go see it again. Thanks for the post.

"And not to mention... it would be cool for US to be counted as some of those rabid fans! It would be real fun."

Yes it would! :-) I'll do some looking around and see what I can find out. I just want to find out if they are for sure doing it this year. But if they did it for the first 2 I'm sure they will.

Well that explains my attraction to Sean! LOL!

The Addams Family was one of my top favorite shows when I was growing up!

"Good thing you don't live here, then! We have one (count it, ONE!) theater in the whole state with stadium seating, and it's about two hours away, as I recall, possibly more than that. The only multiplex in the state, too, I think!"

Holy cow...that would drive me insane lol. One good thing...any new theater going up is bound to have stadium seating now.

Right? Any new ones going up here anyway have stadium seating. I would think that would be the case now everywhere.

finds a horse, Brego, who is battleshocked and injured. He frees the horse from further service. That is the horse that comes back

That explains it. I figured you'd know if it was the same horse. You know more of the answer than I even expected. :-)

"Oh, and I found out I'm going to be an aunt!!!"

Congrats! Being an Aunt is great! I'm an aunt to 2 little nephews and it's so much fun spoiling them! :-)

I look forward to the scene in the extended, because I heard it described long before the movie came out, in an interview with Viggo about him buying Brego for his own after the film.

Being that I am a lover of the beasts who serve us, who will unwittingly put themselves at risk for us, the pity and release of Brego is a scene sure to make me cry!

He was Evil Roy Slade, too.

Am I the only one who's seen that? Kind of a cult movie, and a hoot (IMHO).

...you need a few good dwarves to liven things up.

Ah yes, the dwarf announces his presence! Welcome back, Corin. The place just wasn't the same without you!

Arrgghh! My whistles are supposed to come today, but their location hasn't changed on tracking since Friday! I'm assuming it just hasn't been updated, but it's aggravating! They'd BETTER not be still in MA!
