Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Good morning! Had a very busy weekend- and you hobbitses are a chatty bunch; it will take me some time to catch up. Just finished up a couple of letters of recommendations for a former student's college admissions process. In typical teenager fashion he got them to me a week before they're due. *sigh* Oh, and I found out I'm going to be an aunt!!! My brother and sister-in-law are due mid August. They are quite hobbity in disposition- y'all would just love them.
To: Lil'freeper
Congratulations Auntie!! And good morning. I'm about to head into the classroom here. Very sleepy though. Got up at 4:15 to have a phone visit with the daughter in Germany. Now, it's time for my afternoon nap.

Thanks for the welcome back. Things are calmer now, but there are still issues to deal with. Jr. is still in a foul mood (I don't think he feels well - we go back to the Dr. on Friday). Little one is mourning the Christmas tree. My parents
should be home today.
Jen - no, it wasn't the religion forum. I left there before Christmas and don't want to go back.
Sigh....the Stormhands' cookie jar is empty...
It's after 9:00. Do you know where your hobbit is?
To: Wneighbor; HairOfTheDog; Overtaxed; 2Jedismom
So you think maybe this is supposed to be Aragorn's own horse that gets there somehow? Didn't we discuss the other day that we thought we are supposed to believe Arwen sent Brego to Aragorn?
Jr. and I saw it again Friday night (went to a 10:30 show and had little kids snoring behind us). But I didn't think about looking for that. Is the horse that rescues him a different horse than the horse he is given by Eomer?
To: Lil'freeper
Congrats on the upcoming family addition. We found out last week that my wife's sister is expecting again. Seems they...um...lost count during the time of the funeral (back in November).
Jr. said he'd like another brother or sister. He was not the least bit comfortable when we explained why that wouldn't be possible.
To: Corin Stormhands
Eomer gives him Hasufel, but it's Brego who rescues him. What is the name of the horse that the Dunedain bring him when they're headed back from Isengard? (In the book) A good trivia question for 2JM.

Didn't we discuss the other day that we thought we are supposed to believe Arwen sent Brego to Aragorn? It was discussed. Some of us are hard-headed and I guess I just don't buy that. It's too far of an exageration from the written, and I guess I think it goes too far into making Arwen way supernatural for me. I prefer to think that he's just dreaming about Arwen and she isn't coming to him etc. Maybe I'm not open enough to these ideas. But, I'm not really accepting them.
Is the horse that rescues him a different horse than the horse he is given by Eomer?
That's what I want Hair or one of the horse-people to tell me. If it was a Harley I could tell you the most minute details... but aside from some horses are white and some are dark, they all look the same to me. Is it the same horse?

(where are my samples?)
To: Overtaxed
Maybe it was a horse of a different color...
To: Wneighbor
We will learn more about the horse in the extended.
There is a scene that was cut where Aragorn is in the stables at Edoras (maybe after Gandalf rides out?) and finds a horse, Brego, who is battleshocked and injured.
He frees the horse from further service. That is the horse that comes back.

CORIN!!!
So glad to see you have returned. I'd hug you but I believe that Dwarves are not the touchy-feely types. Heheheeee....*grin*
I just caught up on the posts, lemme get breakfast up and running here.

The horse he gets from Eomer is Hasufel. The horse that helps him by the water is Brego. I think Hair said it was a missed spot in the movie or something...I don't know. I'm so CONFUSED!!
Good to see you again!
To: Penny1
No we are not still in chat! - Oh - you posted that last night! LOL!
I have have periodic trouble with the Yahoo chat where it just hangs at "logging ______ into the system...." Is that the trouble you had?

And these people are musicians? I liked the theme the first time I heard it!

OK - breakfast is ready! Come and get it!
Being that I'm in a celebratory mood this morning, I've fixed an absolutely indecent amount of food. 3 platters of flapjacks, 4 platters of bacon, 4 platters of sausage patties, 2 bowls of sausage gravy, 3 platters of scrambled eggs, 3 dozen biscuits, 2 plates of hash browns and 6 pots of strong, hot coffee. ENJOY!
Please be sure to eat a lot, as I don't want any leftovers as we've had lately with the Dwarves absence. :)

Well, it is true that, except for recognition of papal authority, the Episcopalian church is very close to the Catholic.
