Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

What happened to Bob Hope?
I didn't hear anything about him on the news, of course, they had stuff on the late Uday and Qusay Hussien, Partick Dennihy (spelling?) and Kobe Bryant. But not Bob Hope.

I wanted an ice maker, you know, and Steve wouldn't have it. "We don't need an ice maker!" says he.
I let him talk me out of it and he's been faithfully keeping the ice bucket filled...
We'll see how long that lasts...

Bob Hope passed away. There are a couple of threads in Breaking News (OT linked to one above).

My mom and I both have a terrible time remembering to buy ice everytime we go to the store, so an icemaker was a "must-have".
We also wanted the side by side model so the kids can get their own water.
It's a lovely fridge, but HUGE! We had to take down the cabinets above the fridge just so it would fit!

I know, sis...I'd love one! It's STEVE! He's one of these guys that's very basic, and I admit a lot has rubbed off on me, to a point. He's the one that would mow the entire yard with one of those clipper type mowers. Except I won't help him if he does and we live on a quarter acre! So that's when he bought me my push mower.
He's the reason we are searching for a crank ice cream maker...although I admit, I'd like one myself because you just never know when the electricity goes out and you might have a hankerin' for ice cream...
It could happen!

There will be no imploding of this thread without me!... What's the plan? IS there a plan? There is no plan at all. whatsoever! I dunno what I am gonna do when the thread blows.
Good morning everyone! Just readin and catchin up about friendships changing when people get married.... I have sure been there.... Have a couple friends I haven't seen since their weddings. And some of course, that I have stayed very close with.... Weddings have gained me a couple new friends to, in ther rare instance where my friends picked a good match.

A friend of mine mentioned that you can make ice cream using 2 empty coffee cans, one big and one small. She fixes up the cream and flavoring in the small one and the dry ice in the big one and then lets her son play "soccer" with the can until it's done. LOL!
I've never tried it, but it sounds kooky enough to work.
Add one icemaker to the pawn shop quest list...

Good morning!, I was about to wonder if you were going to join us today!

It works! We did it last weekend! Poured the mix into the small can, taped it up with duct tape (I have plenty) and stuck it in a large can. Packed around the can with ice and salt and commenced rolling it around the livingroom!
The boys loved it and it worked GREAT!
