Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

He's rather easy on the eyes, isn't he?

Evenin' folkses!
I'm over at trini's house and she actually got to enjoy the cookies for the first time today! They were fabulous!!!
The timing of the TTT SE spoilers couldn't have been better!
We'll pop in from time to time as kids permit. :)
Ruthy

Why, yes he is, now that you mention it.... ;~DHullo Ruthy/trini! Glad you are having such a marvelous Saturday!
To: HairOfTheDog
Hey Ruthy just left for home. I guess she may stop in here later. I'll check in later or tomorrow. Have a good night!

- Terrific scene in which Eomer finds the body of Theodred, Theodens son. He's not dead yet.
To: Overtaxed
He's not dead yet. A detail that would particularly important to Theodred! Yeah - I saw that. You 'spose Eowyn can sing? We already know she can't cook.

Not sure if I'll be able to do any backgammon this evening. It's not too busy, but we are staffed lighter than usual, so things are coming through rather steadily. I'll let you know if the outlook improves.
I read the paper's review of Seabiscuit over dinner, and they gave it **** out of ****.

What is HairoftheDog reading?
I've been indulging in some of Ellis Peter's delightful "Brother Caedfal" mysteries. They feel so historically accurate and are full of dead bodies, young lovers, and other good things.

full of dead bodies, young lovers, and other good things. HA! - I see! - You are a slightly twisted thing JenB!
[HairOfTheDog is readin' SEABISCUIT]

I'm watching a MSNBC "Baghdad Bound", about the Marines on the road to Baghdad. One sergeant major has a CRKT knife like ours clipped to a loop of his body armor. All I can say for sure is his doesn't have our Hobbit Hole URL on it. :)

Twisted? I like murder mysteries! That's what I read when I'm not reading SF or fantasy! And the Brother Caedfal mysteries are historical fiction to boot as he's an 11th century monk.

I have seen that special a couple times, and it is a good one... of course, I did not notice the knife at the time ;~D
To: JenB
It isn't twisted to like murder mysteries, I like them too! - It is twisted to refer to dead bodies as 'good things' on the level of young lovers! ;~D
But I think I know what you mean now!
To: HairOfTheDog
Yeah, extra mustard...onions (For Corin...the gas, you know).
To: HairOfTheDog
New ending, with Merry and Pippin finding a larder at Isengard, including two barrels of pipe-weed; a hilarious scene in which Gimli and Legolas compare their scores after the battle of Helms Deep; Frodo, Sam and Gollum are shown the way out of Osgiliath by Faramir, who threatens Gollum; theres even a brief moment in which Sam and Gollum appear to make peace. I thought these things were going to be happening at the beginning of RoTK.
To: JenB
Brother Cadfael is one of my favorite fictional characters! Have you read "Virgin in the Ice" yet?
To: Scott from the Left Coast
(For Corin...the gas, you know). Gas is our goal?
