The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

You mean die almost breaking an Evil Knieval record?

Die breaking an Eval Knieval record.

I'd hate to see you the subject of a "Here, hold muh beer" thread...

I can't believe it. They had to be looking out for me...it is only a couple of blocks between my house and the main road they fly down

2J.... *chuckling* .... and there are half a million conspiracy theorists in the country saying the exact same thing....

Only kidding with you.... but the way you said it is funny.

CONGRATULATIONS. You have made an impression.

No. I would have to break it first. Then I can die.

No matter how long I live in Texas and no matter how much I like it, Upper Michigan will always be "home".

Well, I just brought it up last night because it would be much better than if my kids had to pick my nursing home this week. I mean, they'd be consulting Amnesty International or something to find the deplorable spots.

But, there are coves on Lake Travis that resemble that photo. And you are near there. Making the best of it!

Glad you're thrilled! I'd like to think they see you down there and are coming over to see you, but they do have a much different perspective than you do... The flag might help! Or they will think you need rescuing.... heh...

Would never work. Wrong kind of trees, ground is too hard and is the wrong color, air is too hot. Birds and insects don't sound right.

Nope, wouldn't even be close.

I don't think so...this time they really looked like they were purposefully going slow and looking for me! I swear, if I didn't have this messed up eye, I would have been able to see them in the there...they were that close!

And the thing was wide OPEN! Like a sliding door on the side? Wide open!

And this time was even more leisurely than last. I wish I knew who they were...the Chaplain said they are probably from the Army reserve up by our airport, which is north of here...

I'm okay with getting Frodo later than the 29th. Especially if you plan to overnight him here. We don't leave until the morning of the 2nd. I can get the shots around town as late as the 1st.
If I ship him from the Outer Banks, I can send him to mstar probably by the 4th or 5th.

Corin, that sounds fine. You guys just work us in when it's O.K. for everyone.
I asked Hubby if it was poss. to pin down a time on Irvine, Ca. and he can't. So....we will just lift prayers up to the good Lord and trust we will be able to show Flat Frodo a good time.
My oldest daughter suggested, if we are here, we could take him to meet the new flat Eowyn at the "Barnes & Noble Bookstore" and check out the new "Rings" displays there. It has the latest editions of the LOTR books, including the new release of the book from "The One Ring" website.

Really sorry about your daughter. Been there and it hurts. I think it's one of the worst hurts a mother can have. Will keep and your daughter in prayer. Feel free to "hobbit eat" with no quilt. You deserve it.

Ruthy, again, so sorry you are going through this.
You are not lost in some corporate shuffle, where there is no one who has taken note of your thoughtful deeds of service.
God sees, He knows, and He loves you. He also has a plan for your life and is directing your steps.
When I was "canned" at a job a couple of years ago, I felt rejected and just plain scared we weren't going to make it financially. We did make it, only it wasn't the way I had seen. Now I look back on that "canning" as one of the best things that happened to me. It put me on a different path that lead to direction that proved to be a blessing, not only for our family, but to others.
I haven't been at this site long, but from what I have read, you seem like a great person. The people here on the site seem to have a special affection for you. That's not lost to God. He has something else for you. Try to rest in Him and feel free to "hobbit eat" with no guilt.

Hullo All...checking in to catch up, and it looks like lots to catch up on. Did some speed reading so I hope I got the facts right. Hope that everyone is doing O.K. and those having a rough morning are better.

Can't stay long, Hubby is home and needs his dinner.

Did get out last night and finally saw "Pirates". I hope I don't get "flamed" for this, but I believe Johnny Depp was the winner on that movie. Orlando, I know, doesn't have the experience and his character was more laid back as oppossed to Depp's. I think I just love his portayal of "Legolas". Hope P.J. will consider "The Hobbit". Legolas could be in "The Hobbit"; he was around. After all, isn't he a couple of thousand years old?

Sure, there would be no 'age' problem with Legolas being in The Hobbit!

I have heard others who thought Depp was good... I will try to notice him when I see the film!

Good evening everyone! - Played with the horses, bathed and clipped them.... mowed the lawn, puttered around outside... Back in now and hungry.

Feel free to "hobbit eat" with no guilt, too. You've burned off that "Whopper" with cheese, and you deserve it too. As a matter of fact, I think I will "set into it again" myself.
