Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Thanks Hair:).
It's been a nice day so far, especially after all these birthday wishes. Just got back from a nice ride, no car thieves today:), Mack told me to figure out where I want to eat tonight. I guess it will either be Mexican, or a resturant we like, Chedders, you all have those. I don't know if they are nation wide or not?

I would say FR is going to be a whole lotta crying on each others shoulders that day.
And yeah, I know that sentence leaves much to be desired in the grammar department.

Oh, yes! Two pairs of nice jeans, decent style, for $2 each! It's not even a thrift shop, more a store where they send the things that didn't sell at department stores. So it's all new clothes, maybe out of date, and sometimes the prices are incredible.
The shoes were $40, but it's the only kind of shoes I wear and I only buy one pair a year, so it works out.

$2 - that's a great bargain! And shoes are one thing I believe to be worth spending money on. ;) That and CDs and books...
Our thrift store is consignment...people bring in clothes they don't want and the store sells them and keeps something like 15%...or people can just donate stuff. But they don't take anything that isn't nice, and I've gotten brand new dresses that were VERY expensive and still have tags on them (maybe someone bought something and never got around to wearing it? I dunno!) for just a few dollars.
What kind of shoes did you get?

I worked on his campaign and got to talk to him. I also met GWHB and Barbara.
When I worked on his campaign, I slept, ate and breathed his election. He just had to win. Not four more years of Carter. And the election was supposed to be close... the landslide came as a total surprise to everyone.
I'll never forget the last Sunday before the election. Did we have a time! Then to a big rally featuring Ronald Reagan (this is where I talked to him), Gerald Ford, Jim Rhodes (ex-governor of Ohio), Charleton Heston, and Hugh O'Brien.
The organizers were expecting about 2500 people. 10,000 came. They had to keep opening up rooms at the convention center.
The Monday night before the election I went to see the bus and truck of Annie. There is a line where Daddy Warbucks says, "Democrats, democrats, what do you feed a democrat?"
Brought the house down and stopped the play.
Reagan's was my first time to vote. I showed up at the polls covered in huge "Vote for Reagan" buttons... still campaigning until I disappeared into the booth.
It was wonderful to watch the electoral board turn into, as David Brinkley put it, "a big suburban swimming pool." (Reagan's color was blue)

I've never heard of Cheddar's. What kind of food is it?
We have very few chain places up this way, though. A few fast food places like Subway and McD's, but that's about it.
To: HairOfTheDog
Well they have burgers, It's on the order of TGI Fridays, Chillies, you have those?
Just a varity of food. But they have the very best spinach dip. It's an appetizer but I get it as a main dish. It is wonderful.

I get Sketchers. They're the only sort that don't hurt my poor feet, and they're pretty durable.

This place has steaks, chicken, burgers, some specialty salads, seafood. But it all is pretty good. Doesn't have that resturant taste, you know plastic.

Well Chedders is on the order of those types of resturants, but we like it better. They may just be a local place, I don't know. You usually have to wait awhile to get a table at just about anytime you go.

Cool. They make some nice shoes.
I have trouble finding stuff to fit...my feet are totally flat. I envy people who can wear Birkis and the like.

Since I wasn't here over the weekend...

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only person who sometimes gets appetizers as the meal. ;) With the serving sizes restaurants dish out nowadays, I generally can't finish the appetizers, let alone a meal!

Joshua in the coop...
Holding Roy...
Roy needs a drink too!
Both chickens having a drink...
Joshua petting Jar Jar
Note the coop is positioned right where our garden bed normally would be...you can see another garden bed in the background with squash plants and eggplants.

There are no grammar police in the Hole!Thank God for that! I'd have a stack of tickets so high....
To: RosieCotton
Oh, I have the same flat-foot problem. Sketchers are the only shoes that seem to work for me. Heels on Sunday kill me, I absolutely hate wearing them.
