Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I had a great time too! Felt like time off for good behaviour :-) I'm not used to going to bed after midnight though;I feel like a pumpkin!

Nice of you to plant beans for the deer.
Maybe you can eat a few of those weeds! Perhaps you just aren't planting the crop that would be the most successful. ;~D
I got the witch's circle re-cut on one tank of gas in the weedwacker. Gonna go out now and clear the spot for the new fire pit, rake and burn some of the sticks and stuff.

Perhaps you just aren't planting the crop that would be the most successfulHeh....that's the problem. It was so wet this spring that I couldn't plant everthing at the right time...and I've got only weekends to work on it.

Hmmm...a quick perusal of the 'fridge tells me we're having pizza tonight.
To: Overtaxed
I just started pizza dough! LOL- great minds think alike.

There is something a little gross about those forms, don't you think?Good morning...
The larger pic is more impressive, perhaps. Stars are being formed in those gas clouds... I hadn't considered it before you mentioned it, but I guess even stars need fertilizer.

Oh I am not saying it is not impressive! - It is very cool.... very impressive! - I just think it looks a little 'gross' as in 'organic'.

And on a finer note: Did you guys know that there was a Beer Institute in Washington D.C.?
A Beer Institute.
Damn.
I'd like to work there.

Hmmmm.....I was out dealing with the weeds in the garden when I saw Miss Emily at the sliding glass door wanting out. So I had to take a break! :)

Hello!
I went to the Green Corn Festival parade and managed to get a splitting headache. Steve went to get some plumbing supplies and a new little pool for the kids (theirs got a hole in it...but it was 2 years old, so that's ok.)
Matthew and Joshua have been chasing squirrels in the yard, just for fun. The older chickens are just astonished with their outbursts of yelling and will stand at alert watching them when they do it. It's kinda funny to see!!
I'm gonna take a nap.

Hair; guess I missed that part - old lab - when you said "guest" I thought it was a neighbor's that wandered in. That probably did scare him, poor ol' guy.
RE: the little marine with helmet, lol, kinda like those minutemen that people were painting the fireplugs for the bicentential. Eventually they were all painted over to billious yellow. I kinda liked them the other way better.
Got the new area turned and de-rooted had some chinese for lunch and been buffing the floors Sue waxed. Buffing is pretty cool since we got the electric polisher. Will go over it again with the lambswool pad and take a siesta.
To: osagebowman
Yeah - he is a welcome guest dog, friend's old lab I am dog-sitting for the weekend. Just isn't farm-wise.
I did a lot of raking out in the witch's circle, built a new fire ring and burned a little just to make sure it worked properly ;~D
Too hot now to do anything else today that does not involve the hose. Thinking of bathing the horses.

Heh...we got a sandwich in town after leaving the parade, and I took a nap. Just now got up and am waiting on a cuppa coffee. We will probably make one last visit this evening to the GCF, I haven't had a corn dog yet:), then head to the rodeo.
I had something in my garden this morning that I had never seen. A road runner. My daughter was just getting here to go with us to the turtle races so she saw it too. I did not realize they were such large birds.
When they pulled the bucket off the turtles our was on his back and never moved:(, but the frog jumping races were a hoot. We didn't have a frog. Maybe next year.
Looks a bit cloudy. Oh...coffee is done be back in a bit.
Becky
P.S. I must really be tired. I just made a pot of hot water, instead of coffee:(

Hello! - Goodbye!
We're off to the ballpark. I had such a good week, weight-wise, that I am taking tonight off. I am going to have a hotdog. Plus we're hauling along popcorn balls, chips, and M&Ms. Now if only they manage to win one!
Even if we don't, it's a truly gorgeous day, a truly gorgeous stadium, and Pittsburgh's nothing to sneer at.

When it was done I stirred it! - Has a good wide rock border, and I pulled all the grass around it for six inches!
