The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Morning!

Just finished the bacon (mmmm.....) and fritatta. Have to get going and see what I can do in my patch of weeds today. :)

Good Morning Bear!

There is something a little gross about those forms, don't you think? What a sight.

I think re-mowing the witch's circle, and making a fire pit out there is in my future today.

Good Morning All:

Back from our walk, Samantha had a sniffing good time, apparently another crop of bunnies is coming on line so the scent was really in the air. Sue has taken advantage of the cool weather to refinish some floors with minwax antique oil. But today is some more gardening - actually digging in some topsoil into a new landscaping area. Daylilies and cannas coming on nicely. Columbines all gone to seed.

OT: got your freepmail and will be replying shortly.

Good morning!

Guest dog got bitten by my horse. Guest dog doesn't know not to walk in front of Bay when he is standing in the doorway waiting for breakfast.

(I think the welt will go down by the time they pick him up on Monday)

Mmmm that sounds good. I'm working on the recipes that I'm going to do today- modifying them for the diet. I like to make big batches of stuff on the weekend so that I don't have as much to do during the week. And next Thursday we're driving to Georgia to get the dogs, so I'm going to bake up a bunch of nummies to nibble on.

Hair: re 48 - well said.

Hope the dog learned a lesson; Sam sniffed some road apples at the Vet's down the street, had a funny expression, like "What the heck did that?"

Mrs G'nad: Sue suggested, "Don't hide it-celebrate it". What about incorporating it in the walk way plans, bring some stepping stones over to it and around the spigot and well cap, plant some perennials, fountain grass or little blue stem (mine) for some vertical visual interest. A variety of perennials can give color through out the season, (and the l.b.s. turns a light orange in the fall.

I was wonderin' if you couldn't paint that well-cap to look like a little Marine with a Helmet on. ;~D

Sam doesn't know what she's missin' with those road apples! My farm dog could teach her right way. If you aren't gonna eat it, at least roll in it!

As far as guest dog.... It caught him by surprise to get bit by a horse, he cried out. And I feel bad because he is on his last legs.... Old labrador.

mmmpphhh. mmmppphhh... Morning!!!

Had a blast last night! Sure, there was a teeny little axe in my head when I woke up... but nothing that a couple of advil couldn't take care of. The commando raid on Borders was a hoot.

I think I need a nice long soak... I'll check back later!

Aaack! Attack of the weeds!

And the deer have pretty much wiped out the beans. Dwarvling blue corn seems to be doing okay along with the squash and the 'maters.
