The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Hi Corin, things got heated enough on that thread where I was that some posts were deleted by Adm Mod. However, Non sequitur just arrived, so perhaps the other guy will too. He is somewhat misguided.

Hi Suzi, sorry to get back to you so late, but the Splenda ice cream we get is called Pierre's, we've only found it at one chain so far, but it's very good.

Beautiful day here. How's it there? Kids finished with Harry Potter yet?

Well that's good. My cable modem service is still down... was beginning to suspect something might be attacking the Internet.

How cool that he will just stand in the trailer all calm-like!

Did it create a stir in the neighborhood to have a horse trailer pull in?

am trying to decide whether I want to take the Agent Elrond approach

mmmmmm.... fireworks...

personally, I prefer the ol' "throw a live grenade on the table and hold the door shut as everyone's tryin' tuh get out..."

Becky my Bay had a rip-roaring good time earlier today in the pasture with the pony.... Lots of running and fancy feet. He felt good. I was happy to see that. His playing has still been pretty half-hearted till this outburst still and I haven't worked him at all since starting those meds.

Your horse won't stand in a trailer?

LOL I don't know! I haven't been out front since she left.

She also gave me just shy of 2 dozen fresh eggs to eat, besides the 15 to incubate! The boys are requesting cookies and Joshua wants some scrambled eggs!

Oh Bay is actually very good. He trailered all over the country when he was racing. But many horses fidget. One that will stand patient is priceless!

If you have them, you should crack a store bought egg, nest to one of the fresh ones and see the difference. A friend of mine that I give eggs to, the first time her and her husband cooked each of them one store egg and one fresh to see if there was much difference. They won't eat store ones anymore:) She said the store eggs have a metallic taste. I've never done a taste test.

No, dangit. I haven't. I am at my wit's end with my farrier not calling me back. I have the name of another farrier someone recommended. I am really torn about whether to give up on mine. He just simply is not reachable between appts - what if Bay had thrown a shoe? With bar shoes on I hear they pull them off a lot!

I have also had two people tell me that the bar shoes were a bad idea. Said that having the heel up causes the heel to grow even less and they get really down in their heels without them, exascerbating the problem. That I should try him barefoot with a rolled toe and see if he stays sound that way. I wish I knew who to trust.

Do I stay with the Devil I know or move on to the Devil I don't know? sigh. My inaction isn't getting me anywhere.
