Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I was about to die the other night thinking about them, after I recommended them to ksen for his daughter. Did you read Sat nite's posts.

Did you go get those books for your daughter yet?No, I'm going to the library right after work tonight. We had two things on hold come in that I need to get for Tami.
One is a video of "The Pirates of Penzance(sp?)" and the other is the first book in a series by a lady named Snelling(?).

I was just remembering some of the stories and was giving ksen hints, like "there's one about a farting dog", ....I got tickled and was giving more one line hints.I was laughing so hard I about woke Mack up, he was dozing in his chair:), It was funny, but it might be one of those things you had to be here at my house to appreciate it. But James Herriot is a wonderful story teller, and IMO, the PBS series does NOT do his stories justise.

BTW, all the stories are not funny, some are sad, some happy, they are just wonderful. Each chapter is basically a different story, but they are connected. One chatper you will be boo-hooing and the next laugh your head off.

Both of us did pretty good didn't we? Yes we did (good for us!)
Yours may have been better than mine, since I've been so very fortunate always to have gotten along very well with my parents (they were EASY though!)

Thanks. I think I have just about wore out my welcome on the "Christian" chronicles :')
To: 2Jedismom; ksen
Ok, you did it..lol, remember the one where Siegfried came out of the horse races with the high class people and started cleaning his windshield with the dead chicken....BWAAAHHHHHH!

They were packaging the Harry Potter books under heavy securityI sent in a pre-order from Books a Million. I'd better check on that, cause I don't remember getting any notice about it. Their website says that we'll receive it on the 21st! I guess they're shipping out a bunch this week. Joseph is bummed because it's going to arrive when he's on a Boy Scout campout. That will work out fine cause it will give Clare a chance to get started reading it so their won't be any big conflicts!

This part of the table would be helpful too, for people to look at the big picture not broken down by date:
Castle breakdown - costs
The whole cost is $2335 rent plus $2000 deposit.
Rent / Number paying Rent + $2000 Deposit returned afterwards)
( $2,335 / 20 = $117 )+( 2000 / 20 = $100 ) ~ Total Cash= $217
( $2,335 / 19 = $123 )+( 2000 / 19 = $105 ) ~ Total Cash= $228
( $2,335 / 18 = $130 )+( 2000 / 18 = $111 ) ~ Total Cash= $241
( $2,335 / 17 = $137 )+( 2000 / 17 = $118 ) ~ Total Cash= $255
( $2,335 / 16 = $146 )+( 2000 / 16 = $125 ) ~ Total Cash= $271
( $2,335 / 15 = $156 )+( 2000 / 15 = $133 ) ~ Total Cash= $289
( $2,335 / 14 = $167 )+( 2000 / 14 = $143 ) ~ Total Cash= $310
( $2,335 / 13 = $180 )+( 2000 / 13 = $154 ) ~ Total Cash= $333
( $2,335 / 12 = $195 )+( 2000 / 12 = $167 ) ~ Total Cash= $361
( $2,335 / 11 = $212 )+( 2000 / 11 = $182 ) ~ Total Cash= $394 < I think we are *at least* about here
( $2,335 / 10 = $234 )+( 2000 / 10 = $200 ) ~ Total Cash= $434

Jr. leaves on choir tour Friday (20th), so he won't get a chance to read it until he gets back. We didn't pre-order it. Wife can snaig one at Wal-Mart.

Glad to hear your Gramma is doing ok. It is tuff when they get old, isn't it?
I was able to go see Mama while I was down South. My older sister and I sprang her from the nursing home and took her up to Hattiesburg to visit with two of her sisters. One of the sisters had just had quintuple bypass surgery the previous month. She's home and doing well, and the other sister came over there because she knew I was coming. I had been with her daughters during the Cousin reunion and they told her I'd be there.
We had a very nice visit, then went out to see my oldest brother's new house, which he's still working on, of course!
We had to use a bit of subterfuge to leave Mama when we got her back to the home. We got her all ready for bed, and they had just brought in her supper. My sister made like she wanted to show me something down the hall and we told Mama we'd be back later. Then we snuck out. We hated doing that, but she would just have dragged it out, and that wouldn't have been good for any of us. As it was, she probably forgot within an hour we'd even been there. That's the nature of Alzheimer's. But we took pictures of us together, so when they're developed, my sister can show them to Mama and remind her I was there.
The home is a nice place, and there is a lovely quadrangle in the middle of the four rectangular buildings that is maintained nicely with flowers, a gazebo, and even two cocker spaniels who visit with the residents when they come outside. Since she HAD to be in a facility that provided medical care, we're glad we found this one.

I'm impressed with your table, but I need a post that says "Corin, send ksen a check for this amount by this date."
It's a dwarf thing.
To: Corin Stormhands
I don't remember the date it was due, just 'sometime in July'..... and we would have to get a headcount to see if we are still at 11 or perhaps we have more now....
