Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

"Now how cute is this???" I do admit that that's very cute, 2J. Funny also that there's a statue of a dwarf in the background.

Gotta get out and get to work... see y'all later...

Oh gee, I just have this really sick feeling this morning. Did you heard about the baby in Dallas that a daycare forgot and left shut up in a van for 2 hours? He died last night. It just makes me sick.

That happens frequently here...people leave their kids in all the time. It's amazing.
One lady carried her kid to the car, set it down on the drive way (in it's car seat...one of those clip in kind), got in the car and drove off. Went to the store. Came out of the store and baby wasn't in the car seat (pretty dumb to leave the kid in the car seat while you shop anyway). So she has hysterics and calls the police, the police put out an a big bulletin over the news. They take the woman back home and there's the baby, sitting very irritated in the drive way. Safe, at least. That is rare.

You hear news of parents doing this all summer here too. What gets me is that it's a daycare. I guess it's not really any different. It's just that taking my kids to a daycare was the most traumatic thing in the world to me. And when each time I've heard the report of this since yesterday it's given me a really sick feeling. Parents leave kids at daycare and expect to pick them up safe. If I did it to my kid I would be devastated. If a daycare did it, I would probably be insane.

I have another reason to give Corin elf-envy today! Of all that food I bought to feed the company that didn't show, there is 2 pounds of bacon in the refrigerator. I'm going to have to fry it up and eat it all by myself!

*rumage* *rummage*
Okay, 2J, I come up with bacon, sausage, eggs, taters, onions, peppers, cheese and tortillas. Taquitos coming up. Have lots of salsa and some sour cream to top it off if you want.
Maybe the Hobbit Hole can benefit from my company not coming.

Well, I'm up and ready. I'm taking that filled out application to Sams now.
It would be kind of better to work at Sams than WalMart IMO. Not as much variety but there's stuff that I buy there ALL the time that would be nice to have a discount on!

I hadn't realized until that picture how much your daughter looks like her mom. (for which I'm sure she's eternally grateful)

Of all that food I bought to feed the company that didn't show, there is 2 pounds of bacon in the refrigerator Okay, so that hurts. Corin is dieting again today. He has to be back on his college campus in two weeks.
Hair, did that shrinkwrap thing work?

I love Sams! I need to run by there and pick up a thing of rice. I buy it in 25lb bags and put it in a big "popcorn tin" that I keep in the fridge out in the shop. Then I fill up my rice container from it.
I am also, unbelievably, getting low on popcorn...

Well, I helped last night before I went to bed. This morning they had both hatched, but the one did seem a bit scrawny, small, and weak. I went ahead and put him in with the others. Well have to see how he does.

It would be kind of better to work at Sams than WalMart IMO. Not as much variety but there's stuff that I buy there ALL the time that would be nice to have a discount on! You sure they give their employees a discount at Sams? When the Mrs. was at Walmart before we were able to pay Sams Club dues through her payroll, but we didn't get a discount.
BTW, the Walmart discount isn't for grocery items. The discount applies only to what is also sold in a "regular" (non-grocery) Wal-Mart. So it worked for us for things like diapers, dog food, etc. But not regular grocery items, which would really help.

Have I mentioned lately that I hate my job?
