The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Heh.... If trouble finds you, it will be your own doing! :~D

Hey! I am a WASP type.

There's no shame for him in an honorable (and pampered) taking-it-easy now. Indeed you are right. He can do what he wants to do. No more, no less.

What kind of candy bars? I think I want one. Is chocolate involvedI melt the dark cocoa discs in a double boiler, then add some krispy rice to them to make the bars. I even bought a special candy bar mold that has the divisions like a Hershey bar! They are SO scrumptious. I'll definitely make some for Entmoot!
Now that Clare has loaded the dishwasher, I'll have some room to move around the kitchen to do them!

The song is a Toby Keith - Willie Nelson duet that is out now. My daughter played it for me, we like it.
Hope your horse can be Ok.

Hope your horse can be Ok. Me too.... I don't want to feed him to the tiger yet. ;~D

So am I! 95% English and the rest is German or Scottish. I love being a WASP type. But... you've got to admit, compared to some cultures, we're refined almost to the point of being dull. And "Anglo-American" just sounds stupid.

Dear Hair,
Any radiographs? Also, is he lame in both front? What's his age? How do you use him? (eventing, stadium jumping, trails, etc.?)
To: JenB
I don't think the rest of the world sees us as dull, they find us quite exotic and exciting, I believe.
Liberals are deadly dull and sanctimonius, though.
To: CindyDawg
Beats the heck out of me CindyD. The people are much nicer over here.

are you from Texas? Texans amaze me. Nobody down there seems to be boring. You must not have a lot of WASP types. Guilty on all 4 counts but if I get any extra points I'm a P with an attitude :')

Give the meds a chance to work and enhance the circulation. You should see an improvement with corrective shoeing right away, because it takes all the pressure off the navicular bone.
I don't know anything about the Tennessee Navicular Shoe, but I assume it's an improvement over the old egg and bar shoes.
It's at times like this I go hunt out the "expensive farrier" - we've got one here in Atlanta that is "farrier to the stars" - he charges about 4x as much as the other guys, but with the old mare with navicular we had him out to her on a regular basis. If he trimmed and reset, it wasn't TOO expensive . . .
My old mare and I will be thinking of you . . .

Hmm. You'd better get Hair to tell you about that one... are you from Texas? Texans amaze me. Nobody down there seems to be boring. You must not have a lot of WASP types. One WASP type present and accounted for in Texas. Born and bred. Sixth generation. There's lots of us. And that guy don't make no sense to me. We've been being invaded by yankees for 30 years now. We have much nicer people in the Hobbit Hole than there seem to be over on that Lone Star, with a few notable exceptions like CindyDawg and RoseD.

Well, then, there are people who, like me, think it's ok to be proud of a European heritage! ;)
Don't think I'll be moving south, though. I like snow too much. Texas and FL are just foreign lands to me... and, uh, I have trouble with Texas accents. Being around them all the time would drive me nuts.

No radiographs yet.... He offered it as an option to looking into it more if/when the treatment with Isoxsuprine and Bute (which I am afraid of using too often) don't work, or don't work any more.
He said that early on, the problem may not be apparent on x-rays, but that it might help rule out anything else that might show up, like a fracture, which we doubted as a cause, since symptomatically, it is both feet.
When Bay was going around at first, he appeared more lame on the left. With the left deadened, he was lame on the right. with both heels deadened, he went freely, just like he used to go.
He is a weekend trail horse now, 21 years old.

We asked the vet if it was o.k., and he said so long as we didn't get him so drunk that he fell down . . .I once read a statistic that said that one-third of all horseback riding fatalities involved alcohol. It just didn't say whether it was the horse or the rider doing the drinking.

The real estate guy I had over this evening thought my accent was Ohio.
To: Wneighbor
Oh - I just have to concentrate to understand what you are saying. But if you wanted, you could adopt a nice Scottish lilt for EntMoot!
