Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Have you considered chamomile tea? I have some at the office. Wonder if it would help if I brewed a big ol' pot and sprinkled it all around the house?
To: Corin Stormhands
Now if I could just ditch the left side of the brain....no...that pays the bills. :)
To: Corin Stormhands
There were a couple of times before TTT came out that I considered smoking it!
To: Corin Stormhands
Hmmm.....iced chamomille tea? Would the family drink that?
To: Overtaxed
Yeah, that's our problem. The wife and I are both right brained...
To: Overtaxed
Depends. Sweet or unsweet?
To: All
Gotta run. See y'all later.
To: Corin Stormhands
Sweet, of course.
To: 2Jedismom
I can't hear them! The Real Player is opening and I see it moving across, but I'm not hearing anything!

Oops! I forgot to ping you earlier! You can read through the thread at your leisure. This is a fun group, and you, having seen TTT seven times, will fit right in!!

I need computer geek help!
I was recently given a computer from my Mom's boss. Not only did I get a pretty nice computer, but it also came with a W32.Opaserv.Worm, it is the [win.ini] version(?).
Anyway, I downloaded the latest update from Norton and ran a virus-scan over the whole C: drive. There were about 10 files infected which Norton quarantined (and I deleted). The only file that couldn't be repaired or quarantined was the win.ini file itself.
I went to Norton's website and followed their directions for getting rid of this little monster. I downloaded a security patch for Win 98, I downloaded the W32.Opaserv removal tool called FixOpsrv.exe, and I disallowed sharing. Then I installed the patch, rebooted, and ran the fix tool after I verified its digital signature.
The FixOpsr file scanned my system and came back with a message saying that the W32.Opaserv worm did not infect my system. I reran Norton Anti-Virus and it said I still had the infected win.ini file. Now the fix-it tool was supposed to remove the worm and repair the win.ini file, which obviously didn't happen.
My question is, what do I do next?

Hi,
k'sen!
OPASERV is a nasty piece of business. What version of Windows are you running? And what does your WIN.INI file look like?
To: ksen
That depends. Since PJ has to send sound crews all over the world to wherever the principle actors have scattered, it's hard to put a time on ADR.
It took about a week for JRD to do the voice of Treebeard and the pick-ups for Gimli. But they had to go to Malta where he was working on another project, to get them.

Three thousand seven hundred and fifty-one posts! Yikes!
What does a person have to do to be put on a ping list around here? ;-)
To: Deb
Wow... Before watching all these details about LoTR it really never occurred to me that they didn't use the audio from their on-screen performance, let alone that the voice might be recorded two years after the picture, like this case. It is much harder to make a movie, this movie, than ever becomes obvious to those watching!
Thanks for the background Deb!
What do they think about how TTT has been received? The ticket sales have been so good, are they overly worried about the nit-pickery purists? If I had put that much work into something, I would be a little hurt by some of the criticisms. Are they? Or do the raves from the rest of the fans balance it out?
To: mtngrl@vrwc
Good morning mtngrl! - three thousand posts and you didn't notice us before? - We had 48,000 posts on our last thread! - Where have you been?
I do have a little ping list for the regulars here which I can put you on if you like, but we don't really ping to this thread, people just come and go as they please! Be at your ease!
Welcome to the hobbit hole! This is our chit-chat thread. LoTR comes up of course, and anything else that might be on your mind!

Morning All! We are taking down Christmas decorations today...
To: Corin Stormhands
Good morning! Penny is coming down to visit today and we are gonna goof off! Watch FoTR here in the morning, and then catch a matinee of TTT.
I am getting my chores done early, and soon I will vacuum. When one has three dogs, vacuuming too early is fairly counterproductive!
It couldn't be any wetter here. Darn. Bay and the pony lose a bit of their appeal when they are wet and muddy.
To: HairOfTheDog
I may take Jr. to see TTT again tomorrow.
It's been wet here, but the sun is out today. A better opition for me to be outside rolling up elecrtrical cords and such.
Actually right before Christmas our plastic light up manager scene (yeah, tacky I know) started going out one by one. But I wasn't going to check for shorts or loose wires when it was pouring rain on Christmas eve. They're connected to the light on the deck which we use when we take the dog out at night. I think the camel, the cow and one wise men still light up....
Next year I'm thinking we just spotlight the whole thing from the front and forget about the individual lights.
To: Corin Stormhands
I am thinking next year, in addition to the spotlight, perhaps the whole manger scene could be on a slowly turning pedestal and there could be music!
