The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

That is a really neat insert for the book 2J.... I am just catching up now.

I admit, my husband's buttermilk pancakes are far superior to my self-rising flour ones, but I can make the self-rising flour pancakes in the morning while drinking the first cup of coffee and still trying to navigate where the floor and ceiling is. The kids don't care...
1 Cup self-rising flour
1 Cup milk
1 egg
1 tablespoon sugar
2 tablespoons oil
Mix with eyes eyes open (optional).

Thanks Hair! I got that little green square thing off the Official Site.
I am definitely planning my yeast-risen waffles for Entmoot. They are made the night before and allowed to rise all night. Oh my...oh my...they are the best things!

Self-rising flour? Never touch the stuff! 2J, ya think we could add some plastic cheese to that recipe?
To: Corin Stormhands
LOL Honestly, wait till you taste my waffles. The eggs are added the next morning, separated...yokes mixed in and the whites beat to soft peaks then folded in. They are the lightest tastiest waffles in the world. Honestly, they are crispy on the outside and soft, cream-colored on the inside.
Hey!!! Could they be Lembas???

Gonna be kind of a rough day. It's a year today since Mom passed away. So sorry Rosie.... Now I am here and finally catching up. This marks the end of a pretty hard year for you.... May you always miss her sometimes, and in missing her, you get to remember and be with her again in a small way.
That works for me. I cherish missing my mom.
To: PayNoAttentionManBehindCurtain
My mother was also only 58 Becky... about 9 years ago now.
I agree with you on the thoughts.

Steve makes killer pancakes. Ruthy will have to let us help her with breakfast...

We get to pick out our carpet for the house on Saturday.... I'm tempted to have it installed house or no house. That is the funniest thing I ever heard!
Another good home building movie is "The Money Pit".... Tom Hanks.

To: RMDupree
Thanks Ruthy -- everything looks good or great but nothing's ever final or settled!!!
As for that hangover...

I suggested a little HairOfTheDog.

Oh, sis...they are great. With strawberries or blueberries and whipped cream! I like mine with just powdered sugar on them. I stand in the kitchen cooking them and snacking on mine with powdered sugar.
